For those of you who have taken the mustang on a long road trip, at what MPH do you start see a significant drop in fuel mileage?
For comparison sake lets keep this to A10 3.55 cars, or if not, at least list MPH and RPM so i can try and math out my speed. I will taking a 3500 mile road trip in about months, and am curious.

I think I've gotten the best mpg around 70mph. You can easily get 28+ mpg in these cars if you're gentle.

My longest trip has been to San Antonio which is about 150 miles.

I got 26.2-27.5 and kept the cruise on 75.

I’m MT-82 3:73

Looks like above 75mph the mpg's will start to crash. That's fine as that's plenty fast enough for me.

I did Houston, TX to Thunder Bay, ON in mine last summer and averaged 26mpg round trip of close to 4,000 miles. On the highway I was usually between 80-85 mph.

If you're not in a hurry, keep it to the speed limits. You're sure to hit some good mpg without having any trouble with cops. one of the worst thing to have on a road trip, is a speeding ticket.

I cruise at 80mph in my Auto on the interstate and get about 24-25mpg. Summer blend gas about 25-26.
Here on I-10 if your doing 80mph you will be passed by many. Speed limit is 70mph and FHP seems to not care unless your doing 85mph or above. Passed them many times cruising at 80mph and they do not blink an eye, just wave.

With my A10/3.55, no mods, my MPG drops off pretty noticeably based on speed. At a 65-70 MPH cruise I'll tend to get about 25 or 26 mpg, But at 80+ (like the toll road SH130, which has a speed limit of 80 or 85 mph depending on the section) it will drop down to 20-21 mpg.

Note that I've "calibrated" my trip computer by tweaking the "AFE Bias" setting. From the factory it typically would overstate my miles/gallon by 6-7%. Sometimes I wonder if I have a problem because my car seems to run fine but the fuel economy seems no better than the 6-speed-auto 2011 Mustang GT I had before it (with 3.15 gears though).

Man, I love coming out of the Mobile tunnel west-bound. It's like you've fired from a cannon! If you're not doing north of 80, you'll get run over. 295 south getting onto 95 south - another cannon shot, except 90 seems to be the minimum.

After about 1100 miles I have not once looked at the MPG. I think it is in the default setting of showing how many miles to empty. For me that's all I need. I have not done any trips more than about 40 miles though. I won't be tracking it, but good to know it should get 25-28 on the highway on longer trips.

the limit in a lot of western states is 80, but if the mpg's are going to tank I will still keep it around 75. I did with my ranger when i drove it across the country last summer.

I use to live in the Norfolk area many years ago. Drove those damn tunnels everyday with my truck and my sport bike at the time. Had a nice pipe on it, was fun to make noise back when I was young. Now I just cruise, and I completely understand what your saying..
