What the previous poster said. My passenger running/signal light burned out and I didn't realize it until I noticed the rear passenger taillight wasn't working. Checked all the lights replaced the running/signal light and problem went away.

@louierg

What you are seeking is in Post # 25 of this thread:

https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/tail-light-out-then-back-on.101551/page-2

2 more items of mention for you:

1) If the vehicle has an extended Ford ESP plan (with LIGHTING coverage), any taillight malfunction is covered by warranty.

2) If the vehicle is out of warranty or the part won’t be repaired under warranty provisions - the 2015-2017 rear taillights can be had for $400-$500 for a pair on this site in the classifieds section OR expect to pay about $150-$300 per light depending on who’s selling. Also you can look these up on eBay - there’s a TON of them for sale ranging anywhere from $150 each upwards of the Ford retail of $800-$900+.

*** Don’t ever pay retail for any S550 rear taillight.... ***

The tails have no “bulbs”; they are LED strips operated by a BCM and an internal circuit board inside of the light assembly.

I had to replace my left side assembly, mine was doing the same thing. Too bad you are not closer, I'd sell you my right side unit, but I dont really want to ship it, it may get too expensive.

Did you mean to quote me? I didn't say bulbs, I said lights.

Full disclosure, the signal / running light was a diode dynamics switchback LED that stopped working. For whatever reason it prevented the rear tail light from working (running, brake and signal) until I replaced the DD switchback.

"What the previous poster said" to quote you. Previous poster said replace bulb. I understand your statement as whole now. Did you replace a board? Thanks for your attention for clarification.

That makes sense, I'm in my early 40s so bulb, light and LED are interchangeable in my vocabulary. :cool:

No I didn't replace the board. I replaced the DD LED and rear light issue remained. It was early evening and I said screw it, I'll worry about it in the morning. The next morning it was working, I suspect if I disconnected the battery for 10 -15 mins it would have worked that night.

Mine worked off and on until it didn't. Then it was just flaky all the time. I hope yours keeps working!

There a TSB for intermittent tail light problems, I thing a BCM reprogram might fix it(FREE).
