Still having a misfire after going from FBO to just headers because I can't get rid of a random misfire. Everything is leading towards the tune being the problem. My car never had a stock tune file, as it was dyno tuned previously-shop went out of buisness... I am now tuned by Lund and cannot get rid of the misfire. Is there anyway to get it back to the completly stock tune file to rule this out?

  • Changed coils
  • Put 2017 IM back on
  • Stock intake
  • New injectors
  • Compression test and vacuum test
  • New plugs
  • Full exhaust is the only mod-check engine for rear 02 sensor-high flow cats
  • Still throwing and feeling misfire at high rpm's
Thanks!

When I went from the Roush SC to ESS I had to go back to the dealer and have a stock calibration reflashed on to the car so my tuner had a base file to work with (I never had a base calibration saved before the Roush was installed and with their calibration). It was a pain in the @ss but the tech got it finally after a few hours. So in short the dealer maybe able to get you one.

Ok thanks! do you remember the cost for this? Also do you know if a tuner can "lock" the tune?

I paid by labor hour… I got lucky cause the tech was the one who installed the Roush and he did me a solid and only charged an hour even thou it took several for him to get it. Yes your tune from Lund is locked as almost all tuners do these days.

Lund scrambles the OS ID so not even Ford can access it to flash.

I paid $300 for a dealership to reset mine.

I have been quoted 2 hours labor at 135 an hour so 270 to reflash "as built" PCM calibration.

Do you know if lund needs to do anything first, like unlock anything?
Yes, if you have a Lund tune it is locked down tighter than fort knox.

I have no experience with Lund but if it is like others i would assume that Lund would need to unlock it or provide a stock calibration for you to install before going to the dealer. You need to contact Lund if you do not have the handheld tuner used for the tune install in your car.
