Just to set the record straight. The car has been making the same noise since 1,100 miles. Well before I started modding it. In hind sight I probably should have addressed this issue before I started modding, but oh well it didn’t happen like that. This car has never seen nitrous, and the tune was spot on. If the car had made this noise since day one I could chock it up to normal, but the fact that it rolled off the dealer lot not making one single tick or rattle doesn’t set well with me. My appointment with the local dealer is Wednesday morning. We’ll see what the outcome is
I am sure mine was rattling since new, but I didn't operate it in the range to hear it. I noticed it right after my 93 octane tune. I datalogged many times with that tune, and never had knock issues. Even when forcing the rattle, no knock counts.

At 28,000 miles my 15 GT got the "tick" after an oil change. I took it to the dealer because of reading about metal shavings in the oil. Sure enough the service manager told me a short block had been ordered. Initially I pulled up to the dealership with a full tank of E85, GT350 manifold, LU47 injectors, JLT CAI, and Corsa cat back exhaust. Now I have a little over 2,000 miles on my new engine and it has the usual engine noises. No tick though. I put in Ceratech after researching the product. The stuff really quietened engine noises down. Significantly IMO.

bootlegger,
"Ford has been telling customers this is "normal" since the 2018's came out."
I can only say Jeep has had a 4.0 out there for years with a mysterious tick that get well over 300 thousand miles when properly maintained. I am not suggesting Ford shouldn't be held accountable for a failure due to a direct cause of this tick/knock or what ever it is. I would not be modding my car until this was resolved with Ford, then again hindsight is always 20/20.

I didn't buy the car to leave it 100% stock and drive it slowly to the grocery store. Given the common response by Ford, I don't expect them to do much about it any time soon. So I just keep having fun in the car and hope the engine doesn't detonate.

Man regardless which route they go I hope the outcome is positive. I think removing CJ and headers etc will at least mitigate it some. I have been along for alot of your wrench time journey on here so just sucks it has come to this !

Thanks for the well wishes. If they do nothing I'll just put everything back on and drive it. I love the car. I just want it not to make strange and somewhat embarassing sounds. I am toying with the idea of getting rid of the cj mani though

I dont under stand the problem here..

You have an issue, and stocked the car out. Take it to the dealer for warranty work. If they push back bc the car was modded fight them.. or not and take the hit and move on to a different car/platform..

But if you have concerns take the car in..

Running E85 is going to be the issue.
I’ll wager there’s going to be a bunch of eyebrows raised....... Borescope is probably coming out to check piston wash, valve and port color.
Why would E85 be the problem (as long as it was tuned for it)? The F150's run E85 with no issues.

PM’ed you.
Short answer, this is not an official Ford Flex Fuel vehicle.
True, and that gives the dealer an out. For those who didn't understand my post, it means the the coyote long block can handle E85 with proper programming.

You won’t get a buy back, that’s for sure. A fix or they do nothing is what will happen.

I'll bet

1. Dealer does nothing.
2. E85 didnt cause shit.
3. 2018s are loud deal with it.
4. Previous mods didnt harm the car 1 bit.
5. Nothing more to discuss here.

Now Ill just sit back and continue to watch the dumb commence in this thread.
