Do you normally rev match when downshifting?

I can also say the rev matching even on the auto is totally new to me but I love it. My previous two mustangs (03, 12) v6 auto mustangs did not have this. My new 16 mustang GT auto does this in S mode and I keep mine is S mode more than D for this reason. I love the sound it makes. Like a race car.
You can also do this using the paddles, brake and throttle simultaneously.

My revmatch downshifts aren't always spot on, but I prefer to downshift this way as opposed to the regular way.

I double clutch on every down shift.
Clutch in, take out of 4th, in neutral, blip throttle to third gear revs with foot off clutch, downshift.
Is this the same as rev matching?

On the track (in my race car)...always. Heel/toe at the same time. If you can't do this you don't belong there racing wheel to wheel.

On the street....when it makes sense. Mostly for the beautiful noise the cat backs make.

I don't know if the responses on here are a joke or people being serious.

1) there is no revmatching in an auto, its just a downshift that is controlled by computers, so auto owners dont apply to this conversation.

2) who in their right mind would not revmatch a downshift? Do you really think that hard jerk forward is normal? I cringe when I miss a revmatch by a couple hundred revs, you can actually feel it. You shouldn't notice anything when you shift gears.

Wouldnt know I have an auto lol.
The auto transmission rev matches for you if you're in Sport mode (shift knob in S and not D.) It's pretty obvious if you have a loud exhaust.

t4zalews is dead on, a little piece of me dies every time I miss. Double clutch every chance I get. HUGE sense of satisfaction the smoother the change. I wouldn't trade that involvement and feeling for the world, I would die before driving an automatic. My pops used to let me shift when I was still babbling. Of course he only drove manuals because he couldn't afford an automatic haha.

I don't understand why these automatic ppl are posting in here?????? Take your lazy arses to google and learn what double clutching and rev matching actually is, and while youre at it learn how to change gears like a man! :headbang:

This thread makes me sad for our future.

I'm a cheater and installed this for the track.

http://www.auto-blip.com/

Works great and I use it on the street sometimes when I want to make the 5.0 sound bad @$$.
I've heard of this before. I may get one of these.

Do you have to unplug it to turn it off or is there a switch?

Because this is a Mustang forum and we have as much right to post here as anyone else. Don't act like an elitist just because you happen to drive a stick--many of us have owned manuals at some point and know what rev matching is. The S550 automatics rev match for you, even Ford knows how important it is and designs their auto transmissions around the idea.

All I have to say is go to a dealership and test drive an auto. You don't have to buy it. I just want you to push the downshift paddle and report back that it doesn't rev match before shifting.

I support manual transmissions, rev matching, and double clutching. I would hate loosing that option.

I wonder if ford is going to add a active rev matching to the ecu for the manual like chevrolet did for the 2016 camaro ss
