RESONATOR QUESTION...............

I wonder if the reason for the resonators is, without them there is excessive drone, if that is the case, removing them may be a bad idea.

This is a great read George. I have a dumb question from a non-mechanic (me) . Since after reading that and finding out the "resonator" does play a very important role what about changing the mufflers to something more open and hopefully "Louder & More Free Flowing"???? Thats what we did in the "Old Days". Remember those "THRUSH MUFFLERS" George??? When you took those babies out of the box you looked straight thru them and there was hardly any baffling even in them. Hence: LOUD. Iam sure they are long out of business but Iam relatively sure there are others that would do the job in their place!!!!!! Have you ever heard of Akrapovic Mufflers???

I havent heard of them . I went to the Akrapovic website to find a high end Slovic company that focuses on performance . Sad thing is all this great work on sound and yours truly wears a hearing aide in each ear just to be able to hear the TV set. These folks have been working on improving exhaust technolgy for 25 years. Impressive.

You could always just do a muffler delete. My son did that on his Mustang GT and it’s ridiculously loud.
