I've heard a handful of gt350s and the worst was the one with the res delete. I'd say it sounded straight piped but it wasn't loud enough. It's a white gt350 by me that drives around parking lots revving the engine and it sounds absolutely awful. Then again, maybe I'm biased because the childish ricey behavior is obnoxious as f**k. But I'd take my coyote and borla s over it any day.

HOWEVER. I was driving along side a blue gt350, with a stock exhaust, about a month or two back and it sounded beautiful. We exchanged knods and I had to tell him the obvious, I loved the sound.

New member… just brought my 2020 GT350 home yesterday (after a 1200 mile drive from Denver). Have been lurking for sometime. See all sorts of talk about uncorking the ‘regular’ GT350 exhaust by cutting out the resonators. Curious to hear if there is anyone that went down this path and now regrets it. Would much rather this be a more ‘reversible’ mod as the cutting and welding aspect has me a bit apprehensive about ‘what happens if I regret doing it’!
Went with Borla Swiltchfire… awesome
Sound no regrets

Don't mean to highjack the thread but... Congrats on an extremely rare car! According to the spreadsheet yours is one of 4 built for 2020. One of 4 Iconic Silver GT350's built ever with the Recaros, no Handling pack, tech pack, black stripes, and CF dash.

That's the beauty of Iconic Silver since it was new for 2020 so, the only year for GT350's.

Mine was one of 3 made with the Recaros, handling pack, tech pack, black stripes, and no CF dash. PM me for the production numbers spreadsheet if you want.

I know someone with a '16 GT350 who did a resonator delete X-pipe a few months ago. It sounds somewhat louder and more aggressive, but it still sounds good and he's very happy. He wishes he had done it sooner. Based on the behavior of the guy you described, I wonder if a resonator delete is all that's been done.

That was my thought exactly....!!!!!!!!!

Likely. Also depends on the x-pipe diameter. If all that's done is a 2.75" x-pipe replacement of the resonators, then it should sound identical to an R.
That is exactly what I did.
If mine " sounds absolutely awful", Dfeeds better not ever buy an "R". I would bet the idiot who is annoying Dan has probably done more that just turning his exhaust into an "R" exhaust.
Just my thoughts!

Iconic is absolutely stunning on this body. There's just something about it - while being completely colorless, it still manages to pop and excite as much as any other offered.

Personally, I'm partial to white stripes on every single other color, and I'm also very much in favor of color vs black/grey/white... but I'd dare say that Iconic with black stripes is at the very top of my chart. Saw one in person and my eyes nearly popped out of my skull.

You could be right. I didn't exactly stop to ask. It just sounded very raspy and hollow, the hollow being similar to how I remember flowmasters sounding; like that tin can sound. But the exhaust tips looked stock. I know sound is subjective but it hurt hearing that car while knowing how well it can sound. It was a daily occurence for a couple of months :explode:

If the idiots Shelby sounded like this:

Well, that would answer the question…. If this “rasp” is what you are talking about… it is the natural “R” exhaust.

I have the same noise with my resonator delete and straight pipe replacement.

Heh, I enjoyed watching that. Thanks! But no. I mean it was similar but not the same. Granted I never heard his under load, just revved as he coasted through the parking lot.

I actually just looked up a video of a straight piped (no mufflers or res) gt350 and that sounded a lot more like what I remember so I'm leaning towards that.

Are there any actual performance improvements made with a resonator delete? Or is it just about the sound?

All about the sound. If there were any additional power obtained from doing the delete, I would think it would be very minimal if any.
