A resonator delete does not impact emissions.
Oh, yes it does. It keep the cylinder scavenging at bay ,and why after removal you get the pop and crackle that is raw fuel in the pipes going boom .

Are you talking about the GT resonator(essentially a mid muffler) or the 350 x-pipe resonator(hotdog) setup?

Because on a 350 there is no way deleting the resonators will effect anything other than sound.

Sorry Charlie, These cars have DFCO which shuts off the fuel on decel. So even if your scavenging theory were correct the DFCO will stop the raw fuel.

How much louder did yours get when you added the X-pipe? I currently have the Roush axle back with stock resonator. I bought an X-pipe but haven't installed it yet. :)

Cold start is a decent amount louder. Cruising normally without getting into it much is a little louder. WOT or a good jab at it is significantly louder. I'm happy with it. My main concern was cold starts when I leave for work, I leave pretty early, and didn't want to piss off my neighbors. No one has said anything but I'm quite sure they hear it lol. I try to get in and move out quickly and just kind of idle my way down the block.

I should have uploaded this one instead since it was the same position in the driveway instead of the parking lot. I specifically took it so id have a good side by side comparison once I switched the resonator out.

It is not fast enough, but carry on.

You really think the cats won't capture any raw fuel that hits them from closing the throttle?

I worked in many shops over the years and the EPA rules were anything after the cats are fair game for changing.

Hell even CARB allows cat back exhaust systems so long as they meet sound regs. So that means 50 State legal.

All of it, no. not a chance. They don't "catch" as you call it, all even when the powerplant is running correctly. If they did, there would be zero unburnt hydrocarbons coming out the tail pipes.
EPA/carb care about the test loop outcome, nothing more.
They don't run a high load, and then slam the throttle shut, engine braking. and such.
One must remember the oem's those cats need to last 100 thousand miles under warranty. anything that adds more unburnt hydrocarbons to run through then shortens their life.
Ford would not spend the money on the part it self, and the R&D if it was not needed. Louder= faster sound waves, faster sound waves = more pull on the cyl exit=scaveging.
All this = more un burnt hydrocarbons getting to the converter that the system was designed to allow to make it past the EPA MANDATED warranty period.
oem's don't install parts if they don't need too, never have, never wil.

EPA MANDATED warranty period.
It's 80,000 miles but who cares about your added 20.

Track mode in a shelby mustang is a straight through exhaust after the cats. But you are the expert.

Edit to add. If a cat back did what you suggest Ford and every other manufacturer would void the warranty for installing one.

SAY IT WITH ME. T R A C K M O D E.

How many shelby's will have , (we'll go with your 80k number)
that many miles on them in 10 years?
We've had to replace cats at 97k under the warranty. but no matter, Those that do, are never right, RIGHT.
The oem's just gifted these owners free parts and labor, because they liked them.

The Performance Warranty covers repairs which are required during the first 2 years or 24,000 miles of vehicle use (whichever first occurs) because the vehicle failed an emission test. Specified major emission control components are covered for the first 8 years or 80,000 miles (whichever first occurs).

If the manufacturer wants to extend this more power to them.

Thanks for the clips. I'm the same boat wondering about the cold starts. I will eventually give the X-pipe a try.

Anybody experience CEL after doing the res deletes? I know it shouldn't unless you're removing the cats but I'm curious
