I’ve seen strictly race GT350’s with other brands of racing seats.
Has anyone replaced their Recaros with something a little wider?
I’ve got the comfort seats but may have issues if I track the car. At this stage of my life I’m not planning on tracking very much but I also know it can be addictive.

I specifically bought the comfort seats because I cannot stand the Recaros. Ironically the 2018s with comforts were hard to find. It was the opposite with the 2019s it seems. The Recaros squeeze my lats too much and I have back pain after a few minutes. Getting through the Track Attack was an exercise in mind over matter. I've had 5 track days with the comfort seats so far and find that they offer plenty of support. Of course I am not flying around at 100% balls to the wall so if you are planning to do that your experience may be different. And yes tracking is addictive. I am shopping for a second set of wheels and tires now :)

I discovered the same about the seats when I started looking for used GT350’s. I actually asked the question on this forum about what model year did Ford offer the comfort seats on the GT350. I bought a new ‘19 this past June.
I have a tendency to fix a problem before it exists ;-)
I’m pretty sure at this stage I’m not going to be a competitive racer. Rephrase that....I’m 100% certain I won’t. I just want to have some exhilarating fun on the track. I could care less if I’m competitive.

Ridden in and driven both on track a fair amount. The Recaros for sure look cooler and handle 4-pt belts better, but that's about it, IMHO. I'm a 5 7", 150lb guy and I don't find better support in the Recaros on track. It's too violent for the low bolster in either (compared to race seats) to matter. IMHO, the best combo is comfort seats for daily stuff and then swapping in a fixed race seat for track use.

The optional GT Recaro's are wider. The FP Recaro's look like they are the same seats. The GT350 Recaros are way too narrow for me.

Anything else will lose the side airbags in the seats (and also lose quite a bit of weight), and the dash warning seemingly can't be defeated with a simple resister like the old days. And will also need new mounts, but new mounts give you the opportunity the lower the seat, which is very useful for taller drivers who need to wear a helmet for track or autocross use.

I am using the Recaro's out of an Evo 8 (non airbag), which I think are the same as the aftermarket Recaro "Speed" seats. Planeted seat mount & Recaro rails on the passenger side gives 1" lower than stock. Custom mounts on the driver side give 3" lower than stock, which is perfect for my long torso 6'4". No more ducking down to see traffic lights, or having to change my driving position to fit with a helmet.

Before I found a GT350 with recaros to sit in, I sat in a GT with recaros, big difference. I also noticed by sight only, the GT500 recaros are bigger as well.
Maybe wait for someone to get rid of their GT500 seats ;-)

Wonder if carbon buckets from Porsche would fit in there. You’d never get the airbags to work though.

I’ve sat in the ones in the 500 and they feel the same size as the ones in my 19 R.

The Recaros in the GT350 and 500 are the same with just different covers.
