Replaced Voodoo Engine

No one will ever know or it will be an admission of fault - hence, a recall. I am one of the ones that had a second engine put in recently on a 2017 a few weeks ago. Time will tell on the new one. You would think with the announcement of the 2019 they have figured it out but it is all speculation.

Yep. The good news is Ford is quick to respond and replace. I have not heard of any pushback. Drive with confidence. Oh....and drive it like you stole it at the track!

Damn sure will! Just going through a break in period. Not really sure if I should even worry about that. Just let it get up to temp before taking it over 4k.

I started this thread as a tool that I thought would help all of us learn if there are anomalies with the voodoo engine and not a social bashing against Ford or forum members. So I hope going forward this thread will become more resourceful and help each other with the issues we are seeing from happening or at least understand why they are happening to educate others. In the end, this can have a very positive outcome!

Can a spread sheet be made? I would like to see the years and model differences of the cars with engine differences. ex: GT35R Electronic vs Base R or GT350 Base vs Track pack.

Already on it..I'm creating one for the A/C issues right now. As soon as I'm done with that I'll create one for the blowing engines

This thread makes me want to buy an extended warranty. I'd been considering selling and getting in to something else by December when my factory warranty is up but now I might keep it a few more years.

The engine should be under warranty for a while longer, unless you are putting a lot of miles on your car.

The only way to really know and get to the bottom of this is for members here to reach out to a law firm like Hagens Berman and Grossman Roth Yaffa Cohen Law firm. They were responsible for the class action lawsuit against Ford for the overhearing drivetrain and got Ford to add the coolers, and also won $1.6 against Toyota. They specialize in this stuff!

Maybe one of the members here with a blown motor here can bring it to their attention. They would be happy to do this..more $ for them. There's nothing to loose / costs on your end (per the website). Good luck!

The 17s were out by the time that lawsuit hit and all cars already had coolers.

An update from me, the dealer (Star Ford) sat on the car for 2 weeks before even getting around to it but finally had the prognosis completed and Ford is putting a new engine in mine, 2018 with 7k miles.

Also had no loaner car until they got an approval from Ford...I would expect better treatment for a $60k car but at least they aren't Galpin Ford who tried to claim I had an "aftermarket" oil filter housing on my car that was leaking and it would cost $500 to fix it a few months back...

I also know of one person with a 2018 that blew two weeks ago with 4.8k miles, he heard it was updated bearings that are causing the issue.

Anyway, love the car but not the most fun experience!

Just curious - has anyone with a tune had a motor warrantied? If so, were there any issues having to fight Ford for a new motor? Been wanting to throw on a Lund Flex Fuel tune since day 1, but this thread has me nervous should the need for a warranty repair arise.

What's your build or manufacture date?

Just bought my 2018 about a month ago. Pulls hard, no issues so far. Only have around 600 miles on it though.

Maybe I missed it somewhere in the thread...Is there a problematic build date associated with the blown motors?

I'm not sure if it's been narrowed down that's why I was curious when his 18 was manufactured. Mine was built on 03/18, but I'm all good, no issues. Just wanting to know also if it's kinda been narrowed down.

Sorry you are going through this experience. I had sincerely hoped Ford would've improved the motors by 2018, but it appears not to be the case.

That's bizarre. Were you able to prove them wrong?
