Just filling 93 up, it still takes a good while for the ecu to give the go ahead to give more power. Safety reasons.

Dang you needed to post this Jan 2020, because I bought an eco boost. Then, came August I bought a GT 6 speed.Rented the boosted 4-banger and have to say I did not like it! Anyone on the fence regarding spending the extra to get the GT should just do it.
Not meaning to crap on the folks that have them, for some it is a great car. I certainly do not disparage those that run them. Choice between a Camry and Mustang I4 is a no-brainer.
The car just didn't have the poop that I am used to in the GT. Highway 'pulls' onto on ramps were anemic even compared to the 2014 V6 I had. Passes at highway speeds seemed slow and I missed the grunt of the V8. Missed the sound too...
Personally, I would have loved a boosted V6 version for the lower tier Mustang. I really like that motor.
In my experience, driver notwithstanding, any Ecoboost that can reliably beat a Gen 2 Coyote isn't long for this world. A reasonably tuned Ecoboost can hardly keep pace with a Gen 2 on a good run. To get an Ecoboost any faster than that requires spending more money than it would have taken just to buy the GT to start with. Then, there is the mid level powerband that the turbo 4 is stuck with compared to a nice, free breathing Coyote. All in all, the Eco is better left to a fun street car/back road cruiser which it is great at but the knock down, drag out work is really better with the Coyote.Gt guys. How would a tuned ecoboost w intercooler and 93 fair against a stock gt on 87?
I am wanting to believe damn close or similar in terms of feel and response and power. Tuned eb w the supporting mods get a surprisingly large power boost
Then the gt using 87 would retard power some.
I test drove angt awhile back and wasn’t a fan, the power part irrelevant but was hard to enjoy it because no short shifter, no steeda spring, so it just didn’t feel as nice
but same mods could be done to any of our cars. If I had to get another car today id redo those mods day 1. Just so nice feeling
How in the blue hell do you blast 28,000 gallons of water on an EV without somebody coming along telling you that you're not supposed to do that? In IL they require the first 2 digits of every EV license plate to be "EL" so that when the fire department shows up and sees one on fire, they know to bust out the foam/CO2 they use for grease/kitchen fires.I read an article about firemen putting out a Tesla fire, took 28,000 gallons of water -- they need to send a water bill to the owner, not general public paying for fire hydrant water. They don't tell you these type of issues. Well, California, good luck come 2035 with all electric cars.

Over seven hours!?!How in the blue hell do you blast 28,000 gallons of water on an EV without somebody coming along telling you that you're not supposed to do that? Because if anyone is on the fence it might sway them to the dark side. Why even make this post? Of COURSE a car with 100 more hp or whatever will "pull" more. The engine is nearly twice as large. My EB with 10 Speed still snaps my head back when I want it to and gets 40 mpg.
I'm choosing to believe this is one of those stories where all the underlings tell the person in charge that this isn't working, but rather than wondering why after four hours he's like KEEP GOING IT'LL WORK EVENTUALLY.Over seven hours!?!
If you are a first responder and have not yet Googled how to put out a Tesla fire, you are an idiot and should go get a job at Lowes or something.
Absolutely tunes make a difference and you have to get intercooler to push higher power from tunes safely. Thanks all for the replies, good discussion.
I drove the car about 400 miles and filled it with 92 when I picked it up (it had half a tank). I am not sure that better gas and and/or a tune and intercooler would make that much difference. As was mentioned, the EB is down 150 HP in comparison and that is hard to overcome with simple mods.
The trans did feel a bit...confused at times. It did have all the sport modes though. Handling wise it felt less planted and a bit loose. Although, I think I am used to the lower CG and the extra weight of my GT.
It would be interesting to drive a simply modded EB to see if there is that big a difference.
Throw it in Sport and double paddle from 1-3.Because if anyone is on the fence it might sway them to the dark side.
Also, the rental never snapped my neck back.
Honestly, I highly doubt that anyone would make a decision to purchase a high performance car based on the review of a rental car. Unless, of course, maybe.........Because if anyone is on the fence it might sway them to the dark side.
