Remove Dealer Sticker from Trunk

You think it would be easy to remove the XXX XXX dealer name with just your fingernail.

No way! Anyone have some other safe ideas to get his letterd logo off my trunk?

Heat it up with a hair dryer. Loosens the glue and will peel right off.

If you have an old credit card, you can use it as scraper after you have softened the decal with the hair dryer. The plastic is softer than the clear coat so it shouldn't scratch it. WD-40 also works pretty good in dissolving stubborn adhesive without damaging paint.

Indeed warm it up and try a "plastic" razor blade. Will come right off.
If its raised letters trying warming first then use a piece of fishing line to "cut" the adhesive off of the back of the letters.

For future reference to avoid this..........

When nearing the end of the deal with the salesperson look em straight in the eye, speak in a low tone and say this,

"By the way, I charge a modest fee of only $100 per year for you to advertise your dealership on my vehicle. I plan on keeping that car for 5 years so that fee is $500 total, which is payable in cash and must be paid up front. I wont take delivery until that fee is paid". Then hold out your hand for payment.

Seems to work. My last 4 vehicles had no dealer stickers and no dealer license plate frames.

Just sayin.

I just asked nicely right when I ordered the car that no front plate be drilled to the car (front plates are mandatory in my state) and that no stickers be placed on the car. And he said don't worry, we never do that to a Mustang unless specifically requested.

My dealer had a long name and thoughtfully included both locations on the back of my car. Each damn letter had to be removed one at time, it wasn't a one big sticker/decal. Took me 90 minutes to remove it using a hair dryer.

The dealer name was actally made of metal letters. Even with the heat gun, I could only peel off the small letters. Using the heat gun and a single-edged razor blade, I very carefully pulled up a tiny corner and pushed it back. Then, I was able to use my fingers and work it off. The heat gun is critical to use to make sure the glue softens.,

I cleaned it up with car wax.

My brother in law is an ad executive. When he ordered his new Caddy he told the dealer not to put the dealer label on his car. If they did...he was sending them a $500 invoice for advertisement.
