Anyone ever remove airbag visor stickers?

Yeh IDK if I would remove them without looking into it. It may be illegal and/or limit your choices on resale without replacing them. I don't even know if a dealership could buy a car with them removed by law honestly (don't know if they can re-sell cars without them as a dealer like they cannot sell a new car without them there).

I would just buy the fabric sticker and cover them up.

I just removed the stickers with the visors in place in less than 10 minutes. I did it as ColorCodeUA suggests above, with an iron on low to medium heat. Didn't even need a damp towel... Just heated up the sticker for about 10 seconds, used a knife to get under a corner, and then gently peeled it off while moving the iron along the sticker. Virtually all the adhesive came off with the sticker. Excellent! Looks much better than having a cover sticker of some sort, and WAY better than having the annoying stickers there. :cheers:

I did the same last week. Only needed a blow dryer and a putty knife to get things started. Note, as you pull the sticker off, do not stretch the cloth underneath it. Mine stretched just a bit on the passenger side, but seems to have tightened back up sometime during the week.

As for resale, I'm sure you can purchase new stickers and replace them just before you put the car on the market. I never intend to have a child in a car seat in my Mustang, there is no reason I should have to stare at that sticker for the next 100k miles :headbonk:

LOL... I'll take my chances. I seriously doubt anybody would notice they are missing on resale (or care).

Again, they are there by law for dealerships upon sale; liability/safety issues. Not because you are a moron and don't know how to drive a car or put a child in a car. But there ARE people out there who don't and don't care. The stickers are there so that the buyer doesn't go and sue the dealership if an airbag kills someone or a child put in the front seat wrong- they can't use a legal excuse of well I just didn't know! Just like the warning on the coffee cup "HOT COFFEE." You think it is stupid that the warning stickers are there, but serve a legal purpose to warn and avoid liability. Obviously someone (likely way more than just 1) got killed at some point to cause the warning to go up there.

I've also read on other forums, and talked to some fellow lawyers online who have dealt with similar cases, and if you remove the stickers legally the new buyer could try to come after you as part liable with the dealership (or fully if a person to person sale) for being the one who removed them. Remember the law protects stupid people the most, not intelligent people with common sense.

While you wouldn't have a problem selling privately obviously (other than as above if they get in a wreck and try to sue you later for removing them and their warning), I don't know if a dealership can take the car as a trade-in and re-sell the car without the stickers by law. I don't know if they'd want to even if there is no law preventing the sale either due to liability issues without replacing the visors.

May want to check with where you bought the car though if you intend to trade it in vs sell privately down the road. The sticker material to cover them is a much better idea and match like 99%

Its very easy to play the I dont care/no biggy attitude online (like the moron who boasted about going 120+ on here on a highway local to me and asking the forum for radar detector recommendations saying "F the cops"- but who would probably cry like a baby if arrested and tossed in a cell) but you definitely would care when the unthinkable happens and the next buyer names you as a co-defendant in a lawsuit for millions of dollars due to the death of their kid or a family member from an airbag. Whether you end up being found liable or not by a jury, you will be and easy $50k+ in the hole to an attorney defending everything you own from being taken.

Are those tiny stickers really worth not just covering up with stickers that can be removed later and calling it a day? But hey your car your choice to risk it.

I also taken the tags off of every pillow, mattress and dog toy I've every purchased. Beware any future thrift store buyer

Big difference though.

The mattress tag is mainly there for warranty/recall purposes to ID the lot info and the filling materials used. It's not a safety warning. But same as a car, a store in certain states is not supposed to sell/re-sell if (who re-sells a mattress though?) without that tag. http://www.americanlawlabel.com/law-label-learning-center/

I doubt anyone has died from a mattress or dog toy defect where a legal warning sticker would be needed.


An airbag sticker is a pure warning sticker for legal liability- do it this way which is considered correct or else we are not liable for injury/death from the airbag.

Well, that's a lot of words there! I can see you are very passionate about visor safety stickers... Good for you.
Me, I'm a living on the edge, danger around every corner kinda guy. I know it's highly likely I'll get sued someday for peeling off the stickers, but I'm just crazy that way.

I gotta keep the LE "factory stock" and will thus remove and store the original factory visors- ordering a replacement set from Ford and then trying this technique. Thanks for posting!...

Did you try that googone yet? If so how did it go? You could also try a 50% water ratio to thin it out, and slowly add more to it if nothing bad happens.

If not you should try it on a very small & hidden portion of the visor.

I am really considering this method myself.

Goo gone did not work. It did not stain either. I am currently looking for a suitable sticker or similar material that matches the ebony interior as close as possible and is 4" x 5". No luck yet.

cover them with newspaper. apply heat from an iron and peel them off. simple
