First part of his curiosity IS about red lining frequency, then afterwards he's wondering about the harm to the engine.
First answer needs a number, second part needs input on estimated damage.
I think the first part of the OP's question is really relating to the second part. He is just poking. I doubt he really cares how many times people redline.

I agree that saying others are ruining the forums is a bit much. People in general get all caught in the minutia on these forums and others because of threads like this one and start to argue the stupid crap

But the issue I see is how everyone that post subsequently are saying they WOT everywhere everyday. That's the :tsk: part, it doesn't even have to do with the OP alone.
People saying they go WOT is pretty non specific if you ask me. I mean WOT for how long? 2 seconds? All through 1-4th gear to red line?
Are they doing it in school zones or traffic or a desolate back road of New Mexico?
I'm not going to judge as people are going to do what they're going to do..

everybody..

Re-Read the orig post.

LOL... My whole point of my response was..I thought it was silly that the OP was asking "how many times to you guys redline a day" As to ask, how many times do you floor your Mustang per day and go WOT. To me, that's just a pointless question that no matter what the answer, bares no use.

The second part was about if doing so "is bad for the engine". Well, excessively, it can not do much good. AGAIN, it's common sense.

I was not giving anybody here grief for going WOT with their Mustangs. I do it, we all do it.

I also wasn't calling the OP dumb. I just thought the question was again.. silly.

The ONE time I go the thread police route... LOL

6G.. No hard feelings or flames really meant. Sometimes I can be a car info Nazi.. LOL

Let's just put that behind us. I apologize for any negative comments i made towards you. I think there's just misconceptions flying all over the place. Again, this was just out of curiosity. So, we good?

I'm not sure about my daily driving...but there sure is a lot of WOT (wide open typing) in this thread.

Maybe you should've asked this in a Camaro forum. Sure, they would've called you names, you would've never got the answers you were looking for and your car would be reduced to a glorified golf cart, but at least their hostility would be justified.

However, I did redline for the first time at 2500k miles. It was 2am, 4 lane open road and it was just me and 435RWHP....Gauges lit up red, Rpms skyrocketed, exhaust roared ( I probably woke up every person in a 10 mile radius), I went faster than I've ever went in my life, adrenaline went from 0 to "OH MY GAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWDDDDDDDDDDDDD DID I SIMULTANEOUSLY CRAP MYSELF WHILE GETTING AN ERECTION" ..... Can't wait to do it again, but I'll admit I'm a little scared just because it could easily get away from me.

I have 3500 miles on my 15' GT/PP and still bounce of the limiter every so often. In my case I bought a performance car to perform and test it when proper conditions exist.
Also when changing the exhaust to a louder cat-back system it's even harder to resist...:D

Man all you guys shifting at 5k or not going to red line are really missing out. The coyote make gobs of power over that. That's where it feels the strongest and fastest.
4000+ is where I live.

On another note, since you mentioned exhaust...

I'm running long tube headers and a Mach Thunder solo performance exhaust. I'm wondering is it normal for it to be incredibly loud when you start driving after you've started it? It sounds like I'm doing a million miles per hour when I take off after starting the car....after going through the gears (auto 3.55) it sounds normal, real deep and mean (always gets compliments). But take off sounds like I'm redlining and when I'm barely turning 2k rpms to get out of first.

I'm just curious if that's how it's supposed to sound. Sorry, I'm new to the performance car scene. Not sure if it's been posted anywhere else or not.

You waited 2500 miles to get to redline? The second day I had my car I bounced it off the limiter lol

I did! In fact I was just at Brown's grocery and a girl in the parking lot yelled "Nice car!" as I was leaving. I've gotten a lot more looks and comments after putting these M350's on. You reminded me, I should take some pictures for Paul and post them in his MRR thread.
