Redlining your car.

I did! In fact I was just at Brown's grocery and a girl in the parking lot yelled "Nice car!" as I was leaving. I've gotten a lot more looks and comments after putting these M350's on. You reminded me, I should take some pictures for Paul and post them in his MRR thread.

Awesome! Yeah post those pics!! lol...I'm wanting to go with black wheels too, was going to spring for the M350's but I didn't want to copy...So, I'm debating now between Rohana Rf2's or five spoke wheels. I just don't know how 5 spokes will look on this car.

I got about 6,000 miles on my Ecoboost and I don't think I have ever been over about 4,800 rpm.

I would love to bring it someplace and really open it up and also use the paddle shifters for the first time which I haven't done either.

On another note, since you mentioned exhaust...

I'm running long tube headers and a Mach Thunder solo performance exhaust. I'm wondering is it normal for it to be incredibly loud when you start driving after you've started it? It sounds like I'm doing a million miles per hour when I take off after starting the car....after going through the gears (auto 3.55) it sounds normal, real deep and mean (always gets compliments). But take off sounds like I'm redlining and when I'm barely turning 2k rpms to get out of first.

I'm just curious if that's how it's supposed to sound. Sorry, I'm new to the performance car scene. Not sure if it's been posted anywhere else or not.

With my Corsa cat-back mine is louder at initial startup then quiets down and changes a bit after it warms up....as headers make a substantial difference....

Do what makes you happy man! There are a lot of S550s with 5 spoke wheels, check out some of the member galleries to get an idea of what they look like.

There is another guy in Lake Charles with a modded Silver S550, I stumbled upon it in a parking garage and took a snapshot. I'm not sure if he has Vossen or Velgen wheels. Nice car though:

On a related note, is there any harm in driving in the 4000-5500 rpm for extended durations?

None except warmer oil temps and such, again life of an engine is really dependent of how you treat it and sometimes blind luck, on did it all go together right at the factory. I've only used 6th gear a hand full of times so I generally am in the 3k to 4K range a lot. It's all good. Again the car was bought to have some fun in not last forever.

I have been averaging 19 mpg the last 4500 miles. Good mix of traffic and highway miles during my daily 60 mile (round trip) commute.

Me too, I'm right at 18-20 any given tank.

Day I picked up my car I changed the oil. Redlined it around 30+ times and down. changed the oil. repeated redlining.. with proper cool downs. changed the oil and then I was feeling good. She sees redline almost every day.
