Red lined in first

Taken mine up to 6500 in first and got no wheel spin and it felt like past 4500 all I was doing was making noise with very little acceleration. I have 3.55s. Did you notice any of that op?

No, but I took it into the 7000's for that brief second before it kicked back.

I've had this happen a couple of times as well. The car absolutely falls on it's face when you hit redline. Seems to be in first gear mainly. I haven't experience it in other gears. I don't think it's abnormal considering how many have reported it, it's just a very aggressive rev limiter. First revs much faster so you need to anticipate the shift sooner. Practice makes perfect.

Boy is that the truth!

I went for a ride with my dad on his b-day this weekend in his 09 GT. While it has significantly less horsepower my heart was in my spine!!! He used to race cars in his younger days and holy shit can he shift!! I'm glad I haven't raced him yet. He'd easily walk my car only due to my lack of experience.

So yes, definitely need more practice. At the same time I don't want to harm the car at all. Part of it is the expense involved if I screw up the motor/clutch/trans but it's also a car I plan on keeping for decades.

The rev limiter is there to prevent you from hurting the car. I wouldn't stress too much. It's fine if you hit it. Shit I've bounced off the rev limiter for minutes in my younger years. Never a problem.

sounds like you hit the fuel cutoff point, and yes it is very abrupt:

Redline, indicated (rpm) 6,750
Fuel cutoff/rev limiter (rpm) 7,000

Should not hurt anything as long as you do not do it regularly, it is there to prevent you from blowing it up.

in the original post he said that the cutoff happened at 7k RPM, this was not due to traction control if that is the case, it is hitting the RPM cutoff point.

Agreed... but seemed to question which occurred. You can def. feel if the tires are spinning or even starting to.
