I'd start with the two big bolts that connect the subframe to the control arm. Two locations. If they are tight then the control arm wouldn't move front to back by hand.

AND IT"S GONEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

after looking at the two bolts only one of them was kinda accessible to me and it was this one. i don't have any wrenches that big and the exhaust is in the way of using a socket so i had went with an adjustable wrench. it was definitely able to be tightened down. The Passenger side however was already as tightened down as would be able to get it by hand.

This is the bolt:

Damn that's terrible! I'm glad everyone is okay. Hopefully you don't get screwed over by the insurance company and your able to have your car replaced with another mustang.

Okay so the creaking is back. I'm not as frustrated about it as before since I know where it's coming from now. I intend on adding done threadlock to the bolt as I believe the vibrations of day to day driving are what's causing it to get loose. A question I have though is whether or not I need to support prior to removing one of the control arm bolts to apply the threadlock? Thanks for the help!

Your 34k car that you probably had for a few months got totaled out @ just over 20k?! WTF?! I mean, I realize cars depreciate as soon as you drive off the lot but 40% in a matter of months?

Even better is that I paid 41k, picked it up 6/15 and had 1500 miles on it. They were afraid of what hidden cost there may be and parts aren't readily available yet. The silver lining I guess is only lost my deductible and taxes, Oh and I ordered a 16 yesterday :headbang:

Glad to hear they at least cut you a check for enough to order a new one (minus taxes and deductible of course). Worried to see what your insurance rate is gonna look like. I guess you've gotta buy all those mods again huh. On the plus side, you get the newer version of sync so that should be better! Lol.

Since My car started making the noise again, i went ahead and pulled the bolt that was originally loose to apply thread lock, while i was installing my exhaust (two birds with one stone). A tip for anyone attempting would be to get a jack under the control arm near where the bolt goes in because once you pull the bolt the holes in the control arm are likely gonna shift and no longer be aligned. the jack is helpful to pick the arm back up and hold it in place while you shimmy the bolt back in and tighten it down.
