2017 EcoBoost. I need a right rear hub and was wondering.... should I upgrade the hub from the OEM Ecoboost one (I track it HPDE a few days each year)? Are the GT (non-Magnaride) or GT350 hubs the same, or are they better/stronger? Or any suggestions for aftermarket, or Ford Performance, or just get the OEM Ecoboost replacement? Associated part numbers would be appreciated :)

Also, is this one of those jobs where if one went bad the other is probably not too far behind, or should I wait it out and just replace the bad one?

All S550 wheel hubs are known for high failure rates. M6G members have had front and rear hubs replaced 2/3x under warranty. Some have failed with extremely low milage…

Look for the Timken replacements or if MOOG has replacements..

And yes, if you’re replacing a left side on same axle for example, replace the right side as well, that’s usually the best practice.

The older (2016/2017) hubs failed a lot. The newer revised parts seem to hold up longer.

Replace with OEM and you should be fine.

IMO you can replace them on as-needed basis rather than in pairs.

Listen for a "propeller airplane" sound at around 30-40mph. My right rear hub went out first - the sound was distinctive and easily heard. Then I recognized the same sound from the left rear, only fainter. The removed hub felt perfectly smooth when rotated.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll go with OEM and just get one for now.

How so ? Asking cause I never had any problems with any Timken product.
Chinese sourced with porous flanges, that are have a thinner cross section, not heat treated to the same hardness, no external wiper seal, etc.

The genuine OEM replacement rear hub & bearing assemblies I purchased were made in China.

Negative, all Genuine Ford S550 hubs are US made. We have boxes of them. One of Fords OEM bearing suppliers (Mach1, 2024 S650) has 9 manufacturing facilities in the US.
