Hi,

When I bought my 2022 gt the salesman said that the ford hubs don't last long, he said get Timken hubs.
He also said if you dont replace the hubs in time it'll wipe out your axle half shafts.
On rockauto Timken is marked as a favorites, $62 plus tax n shipping.

I came across Timken when I used to work on tracking optical telescopes, they make high quality bearings.

I bought axel nuts n hub bolts also, they're one time use items. I'm waiting for winter to do the work.

It's not like Ford makes an actual bearing for their hub. There are only few companies on the market making quality bearings that can carry load - SKF and Timken are among them. And every bearing does need some load to work properly and not "skid" (when rolling elements are slipping over the race surface and not rolling).

There isn't a whole lot of rocket science to it. Timken makes a lot of different bearings for other OEMs, they even make jet engine bearings that handle way way way higher loads than any car bearing ever will (and are oiled kinda the way the engine does).

On my '93 Fox road racer, I go thru (SN95) front hubs at the rate of 1-2 per year. When replacing them, most folks disassemble the new hubs, clean and repack them with quality synthetic bearing grease. I think the stuff they come with is just a cheap anti corrosion stuff. Maybe good for La Dee Dah street driving, but not Track.

Is this worth doing on the S550 rear hubs? Has anyone repacked em? Can it be done, are they able to be disassembled?

I forgot to say, the Timken hubs come with standard wheel studs installed.

I've also read posts here that the axle nuts loosen up which ruins the hubs.
The factory torque specifications is 98 ft pounds, plus another 1/8th turn, posts here say 150 ft lbs, plus a 1/8th. And add red loctite, which is not removable. I bought orange threadlocker which is high strength and removable.

No - then can't be disassembled nor greasing them is a solution here. They're pre-made bearings that do not have any serviceable parts to them.
