Hi All,

A few noob questions here, contain your laughter!

My car currently has the below lip spoiler mounted which is Carbon Fibre. I want to replace it to this Ford OEM spoiler --> https://shop.ford.co.uk/products/rear-spoiler-3 - in black.

Does anyone know if the spoiler on the car currently is an original ford item or some random aftermarket piece? I guess I'm correct in saying regardless of whether it's an OEM or aftermarket piece, it'll be stuck on with some form of 3M tape.

Secondly, are there pre-drilled holes in the boot lids from factory or is that solely dependent on what kind of spoiler is fitted? I assume the latter. My fear is taking the current spoiler off and getting the above mentioned spoiler and having visible holes in the boot lid.

I appreciate some of the above may not be known until the current spoiler has been removed.

Finally, will the rear indicators have sequential movement or will all three strips illuminate simultaneously? For reference, UK Model, MY20.

Any help appreciated!

That’s not a factory PP1 spoiler, and yes there are holes drilled but all OEM equipment will utilize the same ones. It’s a very simple process ( I did it) to switch it up. Americanmuscle has a walkthrough on replacing a spoiler. And regardless of holes there will be 3m tape. That’s the most tedious part of the process.

hope this helps

Thanks my man. I had assumed it was not OEM as I hadn't seen it anywhere before. So what you're saying is regardless of spoiler, the holes will be there to fit new one and the holes will be covered up with any reputable replacement spoiler.

Now to find a spoiler which doesn't cost an arm and a leg in the UK! :frown:

Shit, I didn’t click the link to see which one you were looking for. I actually have the OEM one off my car. It’s blue, but you can wrap it or repaint if u want. pm me and we can work out the details if you’d like pics etc.

That's real kind of you but I'm in the UK so it wouldn't be cost effective I don't think. I've just emailed a UK based company as I've seen one at a good price but I'm unsure if they will know about what, if any holes are pre-drilled on the UK spec GT's.

Thanks for your help though! :like:

I’m pretty sure that spoiler you have is only 3M’d on and doesn’t have any trunk holes.

To be sure, have a good look on the underside of the trunk and pull the trunk liner.

I have a gloss black Roush if you are interested ? (And it’s already in the U.K.) :like:

Hey WD,

I will have a proper check under the boot lid for sure but I don't the car yet :crying: Hopefully later this week or early next week.

Is the Roush one as below?

Oops, didn’t pay attention to that. Good luck in the search.

Is it just me or is the search for a good deal on a part you really want almost as fun as driving the car?? šŸ˜‚

I do like it but I'm kind of set on the original one I posted. Which do you have fitted you yours? Prior to being 'accepted' to the forum, I was looking through your build yesterday and looks great - nice work! I think I'm up to page 12 or 13 ish.

As you seem godly knowledgeable on these in the UK, I have to ask two further Q's if you don't mind?

- To my understanding, UK spec GT's come with the non-tri bar DRLs. Have you had anything fitted/modded to get the tri-bar DRLs working? I've just learnt about this in the last 10 minutes and it sucks!

- Are the rear indicators sequential as standard or all on at the same time?

No spoiler on mine, I can’t find one I really like, hence the roush for sale :like:

Tri bar DRL’s work on 18+ U.K. models - and they look really cool :sunglasses:

We don’t get sequential rear lights so we have two options. Sequencers (like I fitted), but they don’t alter the colours or full aftermarket units in a choice of colours and programming modes.

You got the best paint colour by the way :like:

Ahh fair enough, I really like the one I posted above but of course all subjective.

Re Tri-bars, that's amazing! I've been scouring online for a good while trying to find a work around that wasn't going to bugger things up or trash OEM equipment so that's made my evening! I guess I should wait until I have the car before worrying about these things :cwl:

For the sequencers, I'm not after colour change on the rear (I assume you mean?), nor Tri-Bar colour modification either come to think of it, I'd just like a bright white which I guess these come with then?

For the rear, did you opt for the Diode Dynamics Sequencers? Easy to fit?

And yes, I guess your colour is OK too...;)

Where in the UK are you based?

I am confused with the rear light / tri bars now and wonder if we are talking cross purposes ?

To be clear, these are the units I fitted :

I have mine set in ā€˜brake over indicator’ mode.

They keep the clear lens but only sequences red / red / orange when indicating.

If you want to change the lens or led colours you need to look at opening your existing units up or full new replacement units (vland seems to be the favoured option) :like:

Thanks for that. When I said tri-Bar DRLs, I mean the three bars that are embedded within the headlight casing. Are these three bars in the headlight used as the DRLs or is the DRL the lower for light bar thing?

For the rear, no interest in changing colours I don't think, just sequential indicating is all I'm after so looks like the kit you post above will do the trick. I like the clear/white lenses on the rear of mine/ours.
