I have a 2016 ecoboost that has quite a few mods, the car has been stellar so far but I am beginning to see a large gap between the panels where the back bumper clip is a fixed to the car, meeting at the rear quarter panel.

I believe this is a common problem on these cars, is there anything I can do about it?

Thanks
Terry

one of 2 things, don't know if the bumper has been taken on and off, but usually a quick fix is get new Bumper retainer and reinforce the bumper tabs fixes the problem 99% of the time. Plastic stretches and loses its memory with time due to heat and other factors

I had the same issue on my 19GT when I installed a Anderson Composite CF Quad Diffuser.
Two things to close the gap
1: Remove the Bumper. On the Upper Section, AFT TAb, Ruff sand under the tab, clean with alcohol, Make a Thin .080 support tab to go under neith the Plastic OEM Tab, Mark and drill hole so both the Plastic OEM Tab and the .080 Steel Tab holes line up. Then JB Weld good, the Steel tab onto the Plastic Upper Fender piece. Now that Plastic Tab has been strengthened.
2: When Fitting the bumper back on, Use Plastic Shim Wedges you can get from any Lowes or Ace Hardware. Lift the Bumper into plase until both of the edges come together and push the shim wedges between the top of the Crash Bar and Bumper. This way the Plastic supported tab will not be holding up all of the weight but just having to hold the ends together.
Good Luck.

I don't know if you saw these threads or not but the content may help:

This thread contains the actual TSB with causal part # for the S550 Shelby rear bumper gap fix - and this could also be applied to any other S550 as well:

Go to this thread below (ignore it’s for a Roush valance install) and watch it through. It shows every aspect of the rear bumper cover fastener locations and hardware locations (screws), as well where to press to get the clips to snap into place.

Also here is this thread for you and others that includes detailed pics showing how to fix any rear bumper cover panel gaps:
