I don't think we necessarily know that yet. Different springs, suspension tuning, ride height, magneride tuning (With Ford quoting it as "60% stiffer than PP1", I'd assume it's GT350 parts. Why would they put R&D money into developing new parts when they already have what they need sitting around? Not to mention, they say it was a skunkworks operation using mostly off the shelf parts, that would make you think GT350... And how did Ford deal with the wide front wheels in the PP2 What do you mean by "Deal with" them? IF they fit, they fit. You can fit 11" wheels in the front if you have the right offset? Same parts as the GT350? I cant find it documented yet. I don't think they brought over the rear control arms and springs of the GT350 either (Haven't seen anything mentioning that, and I really don't think they did. they also kept the GT hubs and (Most likely, and unfortunately) the wheel bearings. when (if) I get mine, I'll take note of all suspension parts and check to see what's shared with the GT350, provided no one gets to it before me).

I think theres a lot of unknowns.

To your point, the GT350 was developed in 2014. Are some of those older suspension pieces now “old tech”???
Nothing ford did with the GT350 reinvented the wheel. Its really a question of what they brought over to the PP2, or didn't.

Ford changed the front kingpins on the GT350 because of the wider wheels, which was a nice little engineering move, from my understanding. I agree, doesn't seem like they changed the hubs or bearings. I also agree they would most likely pull parts... Or change nothing. We will have to see. Definitely looking forward to your update after you get your car!

I'm very interested to see how the PP2 compares to the GT350. Call me crazy, but I'm more interested in the suspension setup in the GT350 than the voodoo. 2nd and 3rd are so long in that car, 3rd isn't even that usable on any normal back road.
It's not that the gears are longer in the GT350, but rather that the engine revs higher. The Tremec 3160 ratios in fact are shorter than the MT-82 D4 ratios in the '18 GT.

I was researching this topic and saw a post of yours from 2013 from another forum, do you have the ratios for s550s as well?

That being said, I didn't say they were longer than a GT, I wasn't necessarily comparing... The additional torque of the Coyote (theoretically) makes it more usable/fun at lower RPMs.

Ugh, many of you are taking this too personally and are not seeing the forest through the trees. What happens to the GT350 after 2018.... It’s gone.

So let go of your ego’s and realize what Ford has given us.... The GT350 reincarnated as the PP2. Yes, PP2 doesn’t have all of the GT350’s parts, but it’s not a Shelby. It’s also not a $65,000 car either.

So if you want a GT350, go buy ya a GT350... If you like the GT PP2 go buy it.... Geez, you don’t need anyone’s permission or a justification of your purchase.... It’s your car.

Let us just be happy that Ford built the PP2 now that the GT350 will soon to be gone.
The GT350 isn’t going anywhere for the time being.

Are you sure about that?
There’s rumors that the Voodoo engine will live on in ‘19, signifying the return of the GT350. However.... There is the question of - why didn’t Ford do a refresh on the GT350’s exterior AND.. interior. An interior refresh would have been a slam dunk since its a carryover from 2017. And the 800lb gorilla in the room. That is the Mach 1. The last time the Mach 1 came out it had the 32v NA Cobra engine in it. The GT was still running a 2v.

So my guess is that the Voodoo engine will be slightly detuned (so not to upset the GT350 crowd) and put in the Mach 1. But that’s just a guess and reserved for another section in the forum.

They already said the Mach1 would most likely be a SUV electric.

I never said the Mach 1 was going to be a Mustang.....
Why would you put a 5.2 in an electric vehicle? It would sit there unused lol.

GT PP2 Suspension Part Numbers

Here are the suspension part numbers taken from Ford Parts website. Couple of interesting items to note. The wheel liners are different from standard a standard GT. If you look up PP2 parts, their listed as Platinum Performance.

The suspension parts below are the same as a GT350, and your welcome to verify for yourself.

Front Shocks #18124
Rear Shocks #18125
Front Springs #5310
Rear Springs #5560
Front Swaybar #5482

Hub assembly, rotors and calipers - same as PP1.

18 GT PP2 RC, 18 BMW 430i, 2022 C8 Z51 (on order)
Cotus just checked in. EDD of April 9th!! My PP2 is probably going to be getting built with regular GT350's and probably going to be one of the first built in 2018!
That gives me hope that maybe mine will be ready in May.
