I have a 9 speaker system in my 2015 mustang and have replaced the front speakers with 3.5 kickers that I removed the tweeters from and 6.5 Pioneer component paper speakers in the lower doors and left the tweeters in pillars stock. I also replaced center speaker with a skar 3.5 I had laying around. Would putting 6.5 or larger subs in the rear deck bring any more bass ? I have used Forscan to disable the roll off.

thx

No, it won't. You don't have enough wattage or the proper low-end frequency range being sent to the factory rear speakers.

Also, I wouldn't put bass speakers right up against the glass unless you want to just listen to glass and the rear deck vibrating.

Edit: @thompsje in a later post says he got good results with some PowerBass 2-way speakers, after disabling bass roll-off.

He said that he killed the roll off with Forscan, so the frequency shouldn't be an issue. I replaced my rear deck speakers with PowerBass 2-ways and I liked the result. It won't thump the whole car, but I thought it was an improvement. YMMV

Edit: You probably want to change the backup warning to the IPC setting so it doesn't deafen you too, if you haven't already.

Either mine is turned off or my car doesn't have it cause I have never heard it, but then again I'm hearing impaired.

Might be a difference between your 2015 and my 2018. If it was there, you would hear it. 😀

I had my rear speakers (and all the rest) replaced with some Ground Zero ones. Better clarity and sound quality, but not much additional bass. Had to add a sub to my 6-speaker setup for that. YMMV.

It will not give you additional bass. Put a powered sub in the trunk.

Following.
I have a 2018 9 speaker, a pair of Skar 6.5's, a Skar 500W mono block amp, and one of their 12" made-to-fit subs. Even bought a Forscan and got the code to turn off the bass roll off. Have been just too busy to get out there and get everything installed. I'm also a bit intimidated by ripping out the rocker and rear seat trims (!), I will drop an engine, tear it down, machine everything, rebuild it. Rip out and replace the whole suspension with no problems. Interior trim? Gives me the willies.

Take a look at my approach: https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/installed-subwoofer-in-rear-deck.213303/

So far I’m super happy with it - the bass sounds firm, sharp, no rattles

Quick update: Finished the install a couple hours ago. Everything works fine. Sounds great!
I'm no audiophile! I just wanted it to sound as good as the 12 speaker B&O in my wife's 2019. When I had her come out to the barn for a listen, she told me I was pretty much there. Good enough.

ONE little problem: I put the windows down, then disconnected the battery. They will NOT go back up. The window re-set procedures I have found all start out with the windows UP! The search continues.
