It seems I've got the same issue that others have written about. Not happy with Ford's quality.

But the thing is, mine is intermittent. So how do I get it fixed? Does it have to be inoperative when you bring it in, in order for them to trace it? Does the computer store a fault code when it goes out? I really hate to bring it in and have them tell me no it looks like it works just fine!

My model is the V6 with the small screen.

Could try recording it on your phone a few times to show them it's intermittent.

But that doesn't show a non-functioning part to the tech who checks it. :(

In my case they told they can't read the error code if the issue isn't on the screen. What a stupid software...

So I left a car for a day, so they can play with it. I don't know if they were able to reproduce but they called me and confirmed that they saw black screen and are going to order a new camera.

As said take a video of it with your phone to show them what it is doing and what the symptoms are.

Brought mine in and showed them the video. Scheduling another service, they are replacing the harness.

Take a video or photo when it happens I guess.

The service manager said it is a visible code. Surprise!

Already a discussion on it here. Apparently where the harness is attached to the clip inside the trunk is where the issue is. It's an area of high flex that causes fatigue on the wiring. Mines doing it right now too. Started out as a flicker in the morning. Now it's a black screen. In the afternoon when sitting in the sun all day, works fine.
Thanks for the video tip. I'll shoot it in the morning.

My dealer has ordered a new camera. Geez.... I hope they're fixing it right. If there's a problem with the wiring then the new camera will go out and I'll be pissed at having to leave it a day and a half for THIS job. I will post with the results.

Same thing happened to me while I had some other major issues going on:

Took the car in and they found code B115 and C1001. They ran Oasis and found SSM 45776 and inspected the area indicated and found 4 broken wires going to the camera. They repaired the wiring per SSM 45776 by stripping and splicing the wires.

Same thing happening here. Its really weird. It was consistently not working when I took a road trip to PA earlier this summer. Drove back to FL and haven't had an issue since. I did manage to get a video of it not working but I doubt Ford will do anything when its working fine even with video.

Mine just started acting up today. But it works if the trunk is fully open. As soon I as a start to close it, goes blank about the halfway mark. Off to the dealer.

Mine made no difference whether the trunk was open or shut. Now going on 2 days in the shop for this repair and I'm not happy with it...but at least it doesn't feel as bad because they gave me a '16 EB to drive. :)
