Just installed new track rear rotors so I figured I'd replace my rear pads with set of new Motorcraft rear pads. These are from Italy and I think are OEM on stock Mach 1. They are good on the street and okay for mild track use but I usually change to track pads.
Evidently, there's an "update" as both inner and outer pad now have a little hole for these funky horseshoe-shaped springs to go in. It's designed to pull the pad away from the rotor and there's both an upper and lower one on each side.
The lower one in particular is a nuisance to install as you have to have the lower caliper bolt installed and rotate the caliper up and away (so you have to remove the hand brake cable mount to allow for that motion) to install the spring. You can't just install the springs and put the caliper over the whole works as it will pop both brake pads out before you can get the caliper on. Anyway, with some fiddling it will go in but really slows down the pad change process.
