Doing some mods to the car. Im curious as to some weight reduction mods that arent taking away from the car. Car is basically a street car, with occasional 1/4 mile visits. I know, people wont like to hear that lol. Currently what Im thinking

Stock wheels - 31lbs each = 124lbs
SVE R350 Wheels - F-25.5lbs/R-24.2lbs each = 99.4lbs
Total = -24lbs

Stock Tires - F-28lbs Each/R-30.7lbs Each = 117.4lbs
Michelin PS4 - F-28.6lbs Each/R-31.5lbs Each = 120.2lbs
Total = +2.8lbs

Carbon Fiber Driveshaft = - ~15lbs

Rear Seat Delete = - ~30lbs

Stock Battery = ~33lbs
Antigravity ATX-20 = 6lbs
Total = -25lbs

Stock K-Member = 58lbs
BMR Tubular K-Member 760 = 42lbs
Total = -16lbs

Full Exhaust = ?

Kelly @ BMR confirmed 16lbs with the K member that keeps the sway bar. So in total (not including the exhaust) Thats about 105lbs, and about 35lbs of rotating mass. I know theres BMR tubular front/rear bumper supports. Ill have to get ahold of BMR again to find out the weight differences. Once I put the exhaust on Ill be weighing everything to compare. Curious what others have done without going too crazy.

Apex forged wheels, which are incredibly fairly priced, run like 21 lbs per wheel.

You’ve hit all the main things. Beyond that, every bit of weight reduction starts to skyrocket in price and compromise streetability.

Not necessarily… I was able to shed 35 lbs. and it did not skyrocket in price. In fact, I actually was able to add several hundred dollars to my bank account during that fiscal year.

(Voice in the background)
“Bull$hit Dave… we have covered all the major weight loss items, how can you save money and lose 35 additional pounds?”

I gave up beer…!

(Chorus of Voices screaming in unison)
“You’re an IDIOT…………………….!!!!!!”

Not my choice.

10 pound for carbon driveshaft

32 pounds saved on front rotating mass if you go carbon ceramic brake discs
(14 pounds for swap on back discs)

I would def go with the Steeda Trident wheels or the Apex VS5RS - in 19"x11 they're 20 pounds and they look fresh as hell
Those Apex VS5RS's are very tempting. I didnt realize those had GT350 fitment. I just bought the SVE R350's last week too. The VS5RS would be another 20lbs lighter than the R350's. Hmmmm

I get so many mixed reviews on the driveshaft. Some say 16-18lbs some say 10lbs? Im going to weigh next weekend. As for the brakes, any links? Thats a lot of weight too.

Apex 18x11/12 V5SRS are like 19 lbs. just got a set :)

BMR motor mounts are lighter.

Steeda or other two piece rotors drop some decent weight.

you can drop ~25 lbs per seat with the right racing seat and right brackets. Less fun on a street car though.

ditch the engine and cam covers.

steeda lightweight lowering springs..

after that… BMR front and rear crash bars. Carbon fiber doors are worth a lot of weight, even with all the internals and door panels switched over.

glove box comes out easily and can go back in for DD.

18's will clear factory brakes? Any link on the brakes? Im not sure if the GT kit will work on the GT350?

yeah I’d check on that. The GTPP brakes clear by a decent amount, but not sure about the GT350

Other than maybe wheels and driveshaft, I'm not sure I'd do much more. I don't think you'd really notice a difference from the other things. These cars need to drop like 500 lbs, which isn't really practical. Compared to a lightweight sports car, they drive like a bus. A glorious bus, but a bus nonetheless. No realistic amount of weight reduction is going to change that, so might as well enjoy it as is.

Drive with a full tank vs. drive with a 1/4 tank, and you just shed 73 pounds.
And at $4.00/gallon, you just saved $48.00.

WEIGHT SHED DISCLAIMER
Empty the beer fridge and drive with a 1/4 tank of fuel, and you will shed over 100 lbs. based on my peer reviewed scientific study.
