Mod list is on my signature, just suspension stuff and a cat-back as of right now. On the factory tires I'm riding the clutch out, I would rather dump it if I could lol

I would like to dump the clutch as well. I am curious what tire pressure stoli is running and how he is launching the car. I did notice the tires hook much better with a good burnout. I had my pressure around 20 PSI. I did break an axle at the end of the night but my best 60ft was 1.95.

I think most guys on slicks are running about 16-18 psi, and if you start to notice you tires glazing over and getting hard more quickly than it should it's due to not being heat cycled. Most tires shop can buy those style tires already pre heat cycled for like another $20 a tire. Only reason I'm this my brother owns a tire shop. And ouch sorry to hear about the snapped axle!

I run 12 psi on my drag car slicks. Ill run 16 psi on the 2015s drag radials.

When I'm running nitrous I'm pretty much dumping in the 5k+ range and getting consistent 1.6 60'. When I'm on just the motor tune I'm dumping around 4500 and getting consistent 1.7. I'm running them around 21-22psi.

What size are they? What type of burn out do you do?

305/35/19. So far I've only been doing a quick spin, no line lock. I suspect as they wear a little more and the weather cools that will change.

I can't believe they are holding dumping the clutch. I am wondering if the track prep was bad where I go. M car is making less power and my car was spinning when i left at 3k.

It really depends on track prep. Ive tried just about everything. if the prep is known to be good, radials are "better". you should be a bit faster mph with them. however, slicks are going to hook better in all conditions, and lessen the driveline shock on the launch.

to add a point of reference on that, my last outing i had this same dilemma, so i bought a set of each, hoosier 275/40/17's and 28x10 hoosier QTP's. same exact wheel size and type for each. It was this past july at Atco, prep was ok, not great, but ok. I cut the same exact 60 with each, 1mph better with radials.**

i have a feeling that as soon as the fall/winter comes and the sun isnt heating the track up enough, the slicks will out perform the radials. I actually broke a driveshaft, and then later 2/4 gear in the trans launching with the radials. (hence why i picked up the slicks to try)**

I prefer hoosiers, as they are hands-down the best ive had. however, the MT ET street Ii r ( think is what they are) are supposed to be their closest combination of benefits yet, so traction of a slick, with the stability of a radial.

*** Results not on a mustang, a different car

I have never ever found drag radials to be better than a full on slick. I wouldn't even bother putting a drag radial on my 95. Never had stability issues with the MT drags and the car traps almost 150.

Stick cars will like the slick better but auto cars will def want a radial and all the fastest
small tire cars in the country run an Automatic.

No 10" slick has ever been faster than a radial ,radials will be more MPH also as well as a more stable rear of car.
You can run a slick and get traction with it but pound for pound the MT radial is the better
drag tire.
Track prep is always needed no matter what the tire but the slick will be less
finicky and less temp sensitive . Pick your battles.
Our drag car has a stack of time slips with 1,15s 60 fts w 275 MT radials.

good luck

What are you talking about? Pick your battles? Track prep is completely out of your control! You show up and run the track. Good or bad prep! I drive a stalled auto transbraked car. And have no clue where your getting any of this stuff you just typed about auto cars being faster on a radial. Why is a slick faster on a stick shift car but not an automatic??? I leave at the same 5000RPMs as a guy in a stick shift car! How many top fuel dragsters are running a drag radial if their so great? For that matter any NHRA class? The only reason anyone would choice a radial over slicks is if they are running in a class that requires Radials. Or they have a need to clear bigger brakes. Where are you guys getting this nonsense?

An auto car will definitely run faster with a drag radial than a slick. But if you're running a manual transmission a slick will be more forgiving especially on these half shafts.
