Like others have said adding a few gallons of e85 won’t hurt. I add it to 87 octane in my ecoboost ranger. But unless you have a big supply of e85 on hand. The mixing will get tedious.

Unless it is a Ford/Roush tune such as the one provided in the Ford Performance PP2, any tune, be it Livernois, Lund, Palmbeach, etc is going to put your powertrain coverage at risk. Been there, done that 10 yrs ago. Had headers, sims, tune ................. Zone rep saw the headers. End of coverage !

It’s a shame Ford or roush doesn’t make a flex fuel tune.

I agree ................. The system is capable of running it. I did it to the Bullitt and the HEP GT350. I've simply decided to leave the new, soon to be built, Mach 1 alone. The fact that the car has a Frankenstein engine is reason enough for me.

But you voided your warranty?
You can't 'void' a warranty. Ford would have to prove that the problem was caused by the E85... and I'd be flashing the stock map and filling it with 93 in the event of a catastrophic problem.

The amount of inaccurate replies in this post is sad, if your going to do E85 why not do it correctly with supporting software? Flex is a joke anyway - but if you do test the E85 at the pump &
do it right. If you dump E85 in your tank be willing to live with the outcome & associated cost. Mad respect for someone who doesn’t live their life by a warranty.... FYI if you re-flash with the idea the techs won’t identify your tune back to 93 then you should be banned from chik filet for life.

You can’t do this, the new PCMs log everything.

Supporting software? Isn’t a flex fuel tune supporting software? I can’t do a pure E85 tune. I travel for work and my car is a DD. It’s available in my area but not in all areas I travel.

Mikey who did your flex tune? Isn’t the Mach1 very close to the same engine as the Bullitt aside from the canister oil filter from the 350R and oil cooler?

Your first question asked if it was ok to run E85 without a tune correct? No it’s not, but do your own research-good luck on the E85 adventure.

It's still on Ford to prove that the changes caused the issue. You don't suddenly lose the entire powertrain warranty. They may have something to say about an engine blowing up, but they'd still have to investigate.

Yes, I’m not going to. I’m going to get it tuned before it runs E85. I wasn’t sure if the widebands would makes the adjustments without a tune.

FYI e85 is not more cost affective to run. So you saying 93 is getting expensive is irrelevant. But, if the performance gain is worth it to you like it is for many that’s up to you.

93 is getting expensive and that’s fine, I’d like to be able to run both mainly E85 for the cost effective performance boost vs race gas for track days. No more driving I do to work when I’m more local it would be more cost effective as well.

Send it. I run my mustang on e85 only. But I have another car I daily.
