So my 2018 GT is currently in the middle of a oil consumption test at the dealer where I purchased the car. It had been consuming about a quart or more every 1500 miles. First 1500-1600 mile cycle, it was almost to the bottom of the hash on the dipstick and the dealership said it used 3/4ths of a quart. I was in today after about 1450 miles (more time spent in traffic this time) and the oil was below the hash so I am thinking at least a quart low. Nope, they come out and say it was again, 3/4ths low.
Now I've always assumed (and me adding oil before starting this test) that between the holes on the dipstick is 1 quart. Not only did they say they only added 3/4ths, the level is about an 1/8th of an inch above the top hole after the filled it. I'm estimating they added an additional 0.25 quarts. Now there are variables obviously like temp, how level the car is, etc but I let the oil settle as per the manual for 15 min, and park it in what appears to be a level position. With a 10 quart capacity are they more susceptible to level?
I'm beginning to wonder if I'm being pushed off here and the dealership is trying to avoid warranty work or issues dealing with Ford. Do I request to watch this process (accusing them of dishonesty) or just take it to another dealership? I hate to think that, but I have a general distrust for dealerships and I just can't see how 3/4ths a quart fills it from where it was to where it is now.
