Should we have a sub category for tracks? I only say this because apparently an almost 3 mile road course has been constructed in my back yard (40 mins away) completely off my radar.

Fast forward about three mins in to see the course. They just laid down the pavement, expect to open in 2015. So now I have 3 road courses with in 2.5 hours of my house (with a new private course being constructed in NH as well)

They will be hosting all sorts of NASA, club events and HPDE's. I bought a track toy at exactly the right time. :headbang:

Palmer Motorsports Park (fast forward 3 minutes) - 40 minutes away
Thompson - 20 minutes away
Lime Rock 2.5 Hours away.

You suck. I have to drive at least an hour and a half to get to a real track. Otherwise there are tiny little cone dodging parking lots and I don't think the S550 is suited for that.

The setup for drag racing use is very different to that for road course use. So I can definately see those being split into seperate sub forums (if that is what you were asking). While autocross is a bit different, its much closer to a road course setup and wouldn't be out of place in that bucket.

I just joined Atlanta Motorsports Park and I always go to Road Atlanta and Barber. RA is this weekend. I wonder how the brakes will hold up and if the pads will be completely shot.

So now I have 3 road courses with in 2.5 hours of my house (with a new private course being constructed in NH as well).
Make that 4 plus that private one. NHMS in Loudon NH (an hour north of Boston) also has a road course.

The idea of splitting the road course and autocross topics off from the drag race topics is a great one (and should be part of a template for people setting up a site like this to follow). Hell, even Camaro5.com agreed that it was a good idea, after getting enough feedback.

They should definitely separate road course and drag racing at the least. Fans of one usually don't care about the other.

I don't know. You break things out too much and you end up with no traffic or way too many subcategories. The site is already getting pretty scattered.

I would leave all the racing stuff together, at least until the traffic gets much heavier. So far there are only 27 threads in this entire section.

This is one area where the traffic absolutely WILL increase once there's more than a few cars in the hands of the members and the new seasons start up. I'm guessing that by April or May of next year there will be quite a few pages of topics.

It would be better to separate the corner-carving from the straight lines before that happens, rather than go through a period where the corner carving topics end up being the ones that fall off the first page first, where they wouldn't be as readily seen. I know I don't want to have to pick out the one or two or ten topics that do interest to me scattered somewhere in the middle of 50 or 100 that don't . . . potentially every time I open up the section. Been there, done that, and it tends to discourage participation.

My post long ago asking for a racing subsection said one subforum for autocross, one for tracks, and one for drag racing. They took 6 months before giving us this one subsection. :paddle:

I'm waking this thread up to note that just before posting this reply, there were 45 topics in his section all active within the last month. Out of those 45, three are the dragstrip-only stickies. Of the remaining 42, 18 are autocross or road course specific, or slightly over 40%.

I read that as being an even enough split to justify separate corner-carving and straight line sections.

On edit, I've opened up a thread in the feedback section requesting this change through that avenue. . . . Link

Agreed. Would love to see the HPDE section separate from the Drag stuff.
