Question for guys running e85

For you guys running e85, how are you liking it so far? Any driveability or cold start issues at all?

Also, I noticed some of you have changed Injectors to lu47. I believe Shaun @ AED says you need an injector swap to stay safe once you add long tubes. However, lund, lethal and livernois say you don't need an injector swap regardless as there is plenty of flow. So I'm confused :shrug: do we need the injector swap or not if we go e85 + long tubes?

I have the Lund FF tune. I do get a little stumble on cold starts when running the E85, Other than that, It runs perfect.

Most tuners don't like to work the injectors past 80% duty cycle. Long tubes and e85 will put you beyond that, so I would do injectors.

I looked through all the signals that can be monitored through Ngauge and, unfortunately, injector duty cycle is not one of them. For better or worse I am trusting that Jon Lund knows a lot about tuning Mustangs and wouldn't open himself up to lawsuits and a failure of his business by pulling a flex fuel tune out of his ass. Ditto Livernois. On pure e85 my car has one stumble during cold startup, after which all aspects of driveability are perfect. I actually like the stumble. It adds a slight "racey" quality to the experience, except, as opposed to a race car, it never dies.

Cold start issues are very common and should be expected with E85.

I dunno guys...Ford didn't design the motor for E85...something bad happens you're definitely staring a warranty issue right in the face. Use the 91/93 octane stuff and be happy is what I say.

Same can be said for all modifications. E85 burns significantly cooler and cleaner than regular gasoline.

My drivability on E85 is perfect. It hasn't been cold enough to have a start issue yet.

I thought these were flex fuel vehicles capable of running E85 without warranty disputes...

A tune of any kind will void your powertrain warranty.

Expect about 10hp at peak and 10-20 horsepower and torque lower in the range.

The car is able to add much more timing, much more aggressively earlier in the powerband.
