Recently picked up a set of used headers and I am trying to find information on the catalytic converters. From what I have gathered they are a gen 1 cat only good for vehicles up to 2016. Will this be an issue on my 2022 GT with a whipple? Also hoping I can stay on the whipple calibration with no issues.

Hello; Let me bethe first to reply. I do not know the specific answers. From what I have read the issue with Cats and high HP engines is flow. Some picture ICE as air pumps. The more HP you make the more air is moved.
I would try to do a couple of things with what you have. First remove the cats from the attached pipe so you can look thru the inside of the cats. There ought to be a screen in front of a ceramic core. I hold a cat up to a strong light. The more light I can see the better the cat is. That would be the first test regarding the use of those cats.
I assume the wires in the picture might be the connectors for the oxygen sensors. I would check to see if the end which plugs into the cars wire harness are a match. Might be a clue.

Last thought. My guess is to run a supercharger which may get the output well over 600 HP that you will need high flow cats. Lesser cats likely will restrict flow (cause backpressure) and limit the power which can be made. Just a guess.

Good luck

The engine cal has nothing to do with the cats. They will either work or not. The engine won't care either way unless they are clogged up.

Any date requirements are strictly for EPA regs. Install them and feel good about saving the Earth, or don't and earn the extra 3 HP

Those are Gesi cats as robvas else said. Metal substrate, and a good brand. Idk how they'll hold up boosted, other have had failures with lower quality high flow cats. However Gesi are top of the line so they may hold up better. Just keep an eye on them.

Its gonna throw a code unless the tuner does something to prevent it. Idk if they will or not, a lot of them refuse to mess with that any more.

They will keep the smell down, which in my mind is worth it.
