Long story bare with me.

Purchased a silver Performance Pack with Mag and Valve and carbon interior package from Carvana. There was some undisclosed damage on the lower rocker cover that I didn't see until I squated down to take some photos.....they picked it up no problems. I actually had a very good experience with Carvana....I know not everyone does but mine was very good.

Now....I will be commuting with the vehicle 100 miles a day.

Manual transmission is a must for me. I was thinking that the Performance Pack was a must, but I am having second thoughts.

What I have found most important was my like for the seats that were in the car....same as the California Sport cars....the leather/alcantara combo seats.

So my questions are....seems like the Brembo brakes for the PP are easily obtained , as well as the gauge package. I wanted to lower the car slightly and don't want the extra fuss of the Mag ride....so conventional suspension seems better suited for me.

So what do the masses think I should look for? Will I really notice 3.55 vs not having the 3.73....not trying to race anyone just like getting on it when getting on the interstate....I'm looking to have fun and have a car I can tinker with....I have had plenty of experience with the coyote motors. Should I just get a California sport and throw brembos and gauages in it??? Keep looking for the performance pack, get a bullitt (I also like those wheels)??

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I'm a bit confused, are you saying that you'll return the car because of the damage and will look at other options? If so, I'd say this. I have an a10 so I'm not sure how the 3.55s vs 3.73s feel on the manuals. It's noticeable in the autos but if you're not dig racing it, it really doesn't matter. Some people actually prefer the lower ratio when they're racing with boost or when they're roll racing.

For a fun daily driver, the base model really is pretty good. In some ways, it's going to be more comfortable and more economical than the pp. Smaller wheels and tires means better water expulsion in the rain, better mpgs, a more responsive feel during street driving, and cheaper tires (which are certainly not cheap on the pp cars).

Installing brembos is a lot more involved than you might think. I'd go around and look through some of the posts here to see what others have experienced. They're tough to install and quite expensive compared to just buying a pp car. Depending on what you want to do with it, brembos might complicate your build in ways you don't like. The short answer is that a fun car to tinker with is probably a base manual mustang. I wouldn't spend extra money on a pp just to start taking parts off of it.

All that said I love my pp1 auto for what I use it for but it's really not the right fit or a good mustang for most people.

Sorry.....I was hastily typing. I did return the car to Carvana.

From what I have seen the performance pack Brembo kit is around $1600, and from everything I have read on this site....it's plug and play...other than wheel fitment.

The thing that is throwing me from getting a PP is the seats....I'm not wanting the cloth seats...and certainly don't want the Recaros.....I like the comfort of the regular seats that are heated and cooled. The seats that the mustang I had from Carvana were the same found in the California Sport....the leather/alcantara combo seats. I found them to be very comfortable and I like the material.

Yes...if I could find that exact combo again I would get the PP with those seats...but it is proving to be a difficult find. Which is why I was pivoting to the California Sport and then add the gauges and the brakes. Yes I loose the 3.73 but get the seats...and since I mostly drive on the highway and some back road fun driving I figured I would get a bit better MPG.

This is where I was looking for the input....just keep looking for another PP with the seats or go with something else.

I think you’d be very happy with the Ford X springs and the Bilstein B6 shocks and struts. Thank me later. Great, sporty upgrade while still maintaining a nice non tiring ride. I have Magnaride in my current car, so I think I have a good reference…I thought it was the perfect balance for a street car you could track.. I had the above combo in my 2016. In other words, find a nice GT you like and you can change the dash also and add all the PP bits or Mach 1 or whatever to it.
Most importantly, get a clean car.

It sounds like you may want to look for a Premium PP1, you get leather seats, non-mag suspension, brembos, and gauges.

I have Magnaride in my current car, so I think I have a good reference…I thought it was the perfect balance for a street car you could track.. I had the above combo in my 2016.

This is basically the same combo I have on my 95 Cobra!!!!

It felt like the sweet spot for me. I did that with the street front and rear bar upgrade. That car always felt 100% planted.

Hi! I happen to drive a 23 Cali Special and I may have some insight that will be useful.

Regarding the brakes. The stock base brakes are really quite phenomenal for daily use. I think that upgrading to Brembos is not necessary unless you intend to track the car. If you want to paint them or install a decorative cover, that's a much better approach for looks. I installed covers.

The interior of a CS is unique with several upgrades that add a nice luxury feel to it. The seats are very comfortable, for sure.

My CS has the 3.55 rear coupled with an A10 automatic. Perfect setup IMO. Quite responsive and a blast to drive while still in the low to mid 20s for gas mileage.

Here's the kicker: A CS has some PP parts. The front spoiler, rear spoiler, strut tower brace, cowl brace and k-member brace are included. I found that installing a Steeda Stop-The-Hop hit in the rear finishes the suspension and makes the car handle like a go-cart. I think that it's very close to PP handling. Performance springs, struts, and sways may take it up another notch, but leaving these parts stock with the STH kit retains most of the comfy ride - with a little more crispness but not too bumpy.

I think that you're on the right path with your CS thinking!

Oh, and I also love tinkering and the CS platform leaves room for some nice DIY improvements.

I have had a S197 with Brembos and a GT350....just really want the Brembos....necessary, NO....but I want what I want. But I had no idea about the suspension extras....thanks for that.

Makes things a little more clear....for me those seats are kind of a must....I keep reading the all leather seats are....well....a bit slick....people say they don't feel planted in them.

IMO after driving all the versions nearly back to back the PP1 non MR was the best comfort over trashed roads, handling and equipment.

CS is nice but the seats have some rustling material under the alcantara but carbon is very nice.

You could pick up any GT with active exhaust put on the Ford Performance Street or Track package along with the under hood and belly bracing and have a great car. Standard brakes are exceptional for any street use and last forever.

Katzkinz has any seat finishing you could ever wish for and are a huge upgrade to OE even standard leather has a very nice finish not nearly as slippery as stock which enhances bolstering effect significantly.
