Want a fun Mustang to drive, you just describe the PP2.

Everything you seek is stock for the car. Red seats would require a new order, all else is on the PP2

It is a very nice HotRod, loaded with all the good Ford stuff.

"Magneride is poor VS GM and others." totally laughable, from a guy that drives a Basic GT. Would not know Magneride if it hit em in the face.

My suggestion look for the PP2
Hi RR, the PP2 was my screen background for the last couple years. Was disappointed when they dropped it. No Red PP2 on the market right now. Plus I need the automatic. Left knee is getting old and creeky. Though i am glad we can get a Mach1 with auto. Still on the list of If can swing it.

Dream Car implies one that you have always wanted and for all intentions, would also never part with…. So if it’s your dream car, then money is no object. If you’re going to buy a car and then sell within 3-5 years because something new comes along, then you’ve plunked down that extra $17k for….. ??
Good points. I was hoping to wait for the 2023 announcement and then decide whether to get a S550 or S650. That went out the window when they delayed the car delivery to 2024. So of the models available i Like the Race Red Mach 1 with auto and 700A interior and no handling package. Though it looks cool I think it's a little touch for me. So it would run around $75k plus tax so $85k and it has all the good stuff I like. The other choice is a PP1 auto with 401a active exhaust and Magneride and red interior. It's $73K taxes in. The car I saw yesterday was nice (as are all mustangs tbh) and well priced at $52900 plus tax so $56k PP1 auto, B&O sound system Rapid red but no active exhaust and no Magneride. Money is a consideration. It'll take me a couple weeks to get that sorted. Or just go the dealership and order one. Still thinking. Next stop is the dealership.

That's $85K CAD right?

Here is something to consider:

1. Mach 1 has no rapid red. So if that's the color you want, get that.
2. M1 is absolutely the best street/track combination of Mustang you can buy IMO. So even if you don't track it, this has everything you need.
3. M1 barely needs any after purchase mods compared to the GT.
4. M1 does not have a lot of interior customizations. You got to get the red externally...
5. M1 or any new car will have a long wait. Expect 6 months or so. Good luck.
6. You are going to spend more gas and insurance in Canada. Why not do it on a more capable car?
7. Life is too short. If your dream car is a M1 in the available configurations by Ford, just do it as long as you can add 17-20K to your loan...
Good points all and out was those points i was using to put the Mach 1 into the conversation. My better half aost died when she found out the price for a summer only car so you know I had to rethink that. It's still on the list. I posted my three options that I'm looking at above. It would be a sweet ride but then again so would the PP1 I spec'd out.

PP1 rides very nice but to smoothen the ride.change tire to a UHP AS or UHP torring tire lime P7 AS PLUS II ( I love these tires), put dynamat on rear and trunk floor, , and maybe change the door speakers and you are all set.

Get ppf on entire front end incl headlights asap.
I was wondering about PPF. Is that Paint Protection Film? I got the 3m for the SUV hood but the front end is pock marked like crazy. Winter salt what can you do eh?

Not denying this at all...

just saying paddles aren't as fun as the manual in my opinion. I had a 10R80 in my '19 (street-driven only), and I found it to be about as thrilling as a bowl of oatmeal 🤣

maybe it's better on the track.

But I'm also comparing it to a Tremec attached to a Voodoo, which is maybe not a fair comparison.
Oh, if the e/b HHP and GT came with a Tremec over that mt82. I'd have a manual in my Stang. But I think the ZF 5 speed in my '88 F-150 shifted better than the mt82.
(not really, but the mt82 is bad)

I'd go for the 2020, it comes closes to your dream car and it's a decent compromise.

Buy the like new one vs waiting months, maybe longer...................

You can purchase seat cover any color, material, style, etc you'd like for less then $2K CAD I'd think. I spent less then $800 USD for the one's in my avater!! Self installed. The red is suede too!! Katzkin is one option. (Mine are Katzkin)

Look in classified here, CL, facebook MP etc, you may find an AE takeoff.

Many after market shock/strut/spring options vs magneride.

Do these as money/time permits.

My $.02.
I probably wouldn't do those mods if I got it. Factory would be enough car for me. The only mods I'd do are rims and grill.

If an automatic is a must then yeah PP1 or Mach but if you do the PP1 get the AE and MR. Other options are much easier to add later. I looked into adding AE and MR to the 2018 GT but it was pretty much a nightmare.

How, easy the o/p didn't list it as a model on his list.
Comparing a unit the buyer isn't interested is worthless. plus if a M1 is 85k taxes all in, where he is at. a 500 would be 130+ with the ATM's and such.
The GT500 is going for marked up retail at $168k right now. Even if I won the lottery I wouldn't buy it on principal but i bet it would be fun. Probably have to increase my fruit of the loom inventory though. 🤪

Hello everyone!

Finally got around to registering. I'm in the market for a Mustang. Long story short I owned a candy Apple Red 67 Mustang Coupe with a nice little 289 auto set up when I was young...er and am now in full blown mid life crisis purchasing mode. I'm advised that it's cheaper than a girlfriend.😏
So the issue is when a good deal appears but it's short of a few wanted options what do you do? It's a 2020 S550 Rapid Red PP1 auto with 401a black interior and 2000km. Yup thats right less than 2000 miles on it. It's $50k plus provincial sales tax so $56k So the car I spec'd new is close, my spec added the red seats, active exhaust and of course Magneride. But it comes to $73k. This is mainly a summer toy and probably won't be tracked more than once a year.
What would you do? Save the $17k or go for the dream machine?

Thanks in advance for all your advice.

(I was looking at a Mach 1 and man it's a stretch at $85k taxes in. )

Oh and as more info may help I plan on modding it to have a more classic Vibe with the 50th anniversary rims and replacing the grill with the horse and corral from the Pony package. ( I know, old people and their crazy ideas) it'll be the bomb!!
So your basic question is: are red seats, magenride, and active exhaust worth 17k in YOUR CURRENCY. (Seems like the exchange rate equals out to about $14,407 in US funds.

ANSWER: NO. Buy the 2020 and save the money for Katzkins (which seem to be better quality based on member statements) Good Dampers, and a Corsa Exhaust or the like. Pocket the remaining 11-12k after that.

now, the 2022 would be 2 years newer but not with much if any improvements. But you will have to wait for it as well knowing all that entails.

Honestly if it’s a summer only car and you probably want to enjoy it without breaking the bank, just drive a stock GT.

It’s more affordable, drives well as well and you can push it as required. You can probably add the PP1 if you really want but at that point M1 comes into sight.

Have you seen used M1s in your area? You might find them more enticing.

No used M1s yet. There are two Red auto M1s. One at $75k + tax with base interior and handling package. One at $90k loaded with handling pack. I himmed and hawwed over the cheaper one. Still on my mind.

I am assuming thats CAD. The $75K one sounds pretty solid IMO. Share a link?

The gt350 is way more track capable. The Mach 1 is essentially a Badged magnaride vehicle with gt350 intake and don’t think those add-ons equate to the huge price difference.
You forgot the GT 500 stuff on the back

How?! Performance is comparable to PP2 car at much higher cost with trans that is less reliable
So how do you option PP2 on a new Mustang? Also totally confused with your transmission statement. The Tremec manual in the M1 is less reliable than the one in the GT350? Or are you talking about the A10, which is nonexistent in the GT350
