Quick shifts
Did you switch cars with your buddy and run him again?

If you didn't, you should try that.

It will give you a better picture to see if its your driving/shifting skill or the car that is making the difference.

ive pushed it to rev limiter to where the fuel cuts off and when i was stock it was just past 7... maybe 7200 but now i have the bama race tune and it seems to be able to go to like 7350..... if you are stock or just bolt ons, dont be scared to let it rev... the coyote motor can handle it and it has the rev limiter just in case.

Thanks. Just pissed how the 15 is slower thend the 14. But like I said earlier ,one day we raced ,I beat him or we were neck and neck. Then the next week he beat me like I was standing still smh. I would pull on him on the word go but he would roll right by me. Car still feels fast. I don't think I messed anything up from the first time we raced from the last. I'm taking to 7. Next tike we make a pull I'm gonna focus more on the rpms we're leaving on and the mph. I'm so concerned about everything else when on the highway. Cops & traffic

If you beat him once, and then he spanked you the next time...he's either not telling you he added something after you beat him, or he let you win the first one and isn't telling you about something.

Yeah something isn't right. When we raced first time it might have been around 95-98 degress last time we raced maybe 85 90 degrees something like that. It felt like the very first time we raced when i just had my cold air and tune and he had cold air tune and full exhaust. But he swears he didn't add anything to it.

Like stated already, something is up. Unless you shifted like a grandma the last time, there shouldnt be THAT much of a difference in the result. Just my .2 tho.

Im still not sold the 15 is slower, I think people had the idea that it would be no doubt faster and when it actually turns out to be a drivers race, they think its slow. Slow because it didnt meet their expectation of being faster as it is the next gen. Of course, if you talk about whos faster around a road track, thats where the 15 really shines as a night and day improvement as the GT PP can out handle the boss 302 equal drivers with equal seat time.

Plus the 15 motor is just better all around. Better heads, better cams, bigger valves, stiffer valve springs, rebalanced crank for high rpm, boss rods.. Lots of potential in these cars. Cant wait to see what the 15+ CJ intake equivalent is going to do on this motor

Cobra Jet.
Havent people already put that to the test vs the Boss intake mani? I thought the gains were minimal due to the '15 stocker flowing so well?

That was just the boss manifold. I havent seen anything with the CJ and 15s yet. I'd be curious though.

Yeah - and I think that's what people were experiencing, but it seems more readily available data from a varied amount of sources hasn't happened as most folks are simply skipping directly to Forced Induction without really trying to squeeze everything in this motor out of it, first. More importantly, I think a lot of folks see it as more of a pain in the ass than it's worth to have to either drop the engine down an inch or so, or get a hood that clears it, which also, don't seem to be very readily available currently.

Regardless of all that - I don't see a lot of experienced drivers claiming this car feels slow, which leads me to believe the ones that do, are simply driving it slow as opposed to it legitimately being slow.

I can only speak from personal experience, mind you, and without fail when there are other 15s around, you can hear, quite easily, how slowly they're being driven. And not particularly a speed issue, but more importantly a revving and shifting issue. 1st and 2nd it seems like everyone is more than willing to take way up to the limit, but when 3rd and 4th hit, they short shift to get into 5th - completely missing the giant, insane powerband in 3rd and 4th.

I don't know about you guys, but if I'm doing a 40 roll on the Highway, I'm not even going into 2nd - I'll pull from 3rd, into 4th, and cap off in 5th if we're still racing.

If I'm on a track, I live in 3rd/4th. 2nd comes in rarely on super slow turns, and 5th, very rarely on straights that can accommodate.

However, I think an important fact to mention is how garbage the stock shifter is and how often it will absolutely lock you out of the gate during high RPM shifts. I think that is a definite contributing factor to the general idea of the car being slow since anything over 4K, you're probably getting locked out 25-30% of the time from the shift you want to make. Which means a LOT of people are shifting when the car is making right around 300 RWHP...in a car that weighs damn near 2 tons, your Power To Weight is a lowly .079 as opposed to shifting correctly and running that up to a more respectable .1.

That sorta thing really makes a difference.

Another strong thing to concentrate on is how smooth those shifts are. A butter smooth "Quick Shift" is going to be faster than a jerky "Power Shift" since you're not disrupting the car in the same manner.

Concentrate on getting shifts smooth and not so much on the time between them, and I think more people will start to realize the real power in these cars.

But that's just my experience, your mileage may vary.
