For those of you looking for a good smart phone mount. I highly recommend proclip. They provide several options to mount on the console area, none involving drilling into your console area. They also offer floor mounts that you can screw in.

Bad news however, see below in their email response to me...

"Thank you for contacting us with your interest in our ProClip products. At this time we do not have a Vehicle Mount for the new 2015 Mustang. The good news is we do anticipate having mounts for this vehicle. Due to the availability of the vehicles in the local showrooms, we anticipate the mounts to be available in possibly June 2015. Once we have the mounts available you will receive a separate email notification letting you know the mounts are available."

Great timing. I just looked this up. I love my ProClip and was hoping it would work in my new Mustang.

Is a mount needed if you can sync the phone with the car?

I love my pro-clip too, and got the same e-mail response back from them.

I had it in my G6 which had zero space for stashing a phone. At least this car has a spot to tuck it. I can wait until June, I guess.

They're pricy, but damn are they worth it!

That area on the PP looks more slanted than the non-PP. I'm not going to order until I know it will work.

I had one of these on my last vehicle and loved it, but for some reason on the Mustang, I'm not so anxious to put it on there.

After watching the install video again the guy says it will fit over the gauges, I ordered one. In 5 - 8 days I'll post my thoughts on how it fits on a Mustang GT with PP gauges.

$30 for the clip is fine. But $80 to $110 for the adapter for the phone is nuts. And you've gotta love it "Won't fit the Otter Box Defender". Only the most popular case made for phones today.
I was at the NAB show in Vegas 2 weeks ago and dozens of vendors were selling attachments for the iPhone's, but without cases. I told one vendor to open his eyes and look at all the phones on belt clips. 8 out of 10 was in a Defender

I was hoping ProClip would release one that was mounted lower on the console. As it is, the air vent mount solution is less than ideal for me.

Breaking news, people have no taste. OtterBox cases are awful. If anyone seriously needs a case like that, they need to learn how to hold an $800 piece of technology. I've owned iPhones since 2007 and have never broken one.

I use the proclip padded adjustable holder for my Galaxy 4 with an Otter box - it's pretty thick, so the adjustable thickness on this holder is pretty nice.

www.proclipusa.com/store/products/padded-adjustable-holder-with-tilt-swivel-848636.aspx

I hope the link works - I had to copy it from my cell because the proclip site is blocked at work for some reason. If it doesn't work, search for product number 848636.

Now I have to order the base for the mustang...

Are you crawling around under computer floors? Up on ladders in ceilings between ceiling grids? Inside electronics equipment racks all day?
It's a pretty broad stroke you just painted with that statement. Everyone has a different work style and is in different situations all the time. I too have never broken a smart phone or even dropped mine. But the environment I work in, I want to make sure I've got all the protection I can get.
My wife has one on hers too. And no, she's mostly in an OR all day and doesn't really need that much protection. But there was that one time when she just got her new phone and had it in her lap while taking a nap in the car (SUV, up high) and when we arrived to our destination she woke up, jumped out of the car still drowsy and her 2 day old iPhone 6 hit the ground. The Otterbox saved it.
The guy getting out of his SUV we parked next to saw it happen and said, "Well that settles it. I'm getting one of those cases too!"

My kids on the other hand have/had the same attitude towards the Otterbox. My two youngest kids walk around with broken screens because they are too cool for a case. Still in high school. My oldest 2 are carrying theirs in Otterboxes too now. Oldest son learned the hard way while preparing to deploy for Afghanistan and was climbing into his armored vehicle and leaned against a door frame and broke his new Galaxy. He ordered an Otterbox with the replacement phone. Oldest daughter learned by watching everyone else!

I love pro-clip because they offer a docking option (if you have an iPhone). It is way more convenient to just push my phone into the mount and not have to plug the cable in.

Also, I work at a tech company and most people either have the official apple leather case or naked phones. I would guess that only around 1% of people here have an otter case. I personally have never put any of my phones in cases. Why make something that I put in my pocket even bigger than it already is? And belt clips are super dorky looking.

The cost is high, but to me it's well worth it to keep the phone within reach and easily plugged in with one hand. As for the phones with cases on them they do sell other holders that don't say they won't fit the OtterBox Defender and in my case they sell a holder specifically for the OtterBox Defender.
