Hey. So I've been having some issues with my 10R80 recently.
I drive GT 2018 - although modelwise it says it's 2019 (late 2018 production) and it's been 13k miles since I bought it (56k miles in total)
So... For some time I've been having issues specifically with 5th gear. When I'm driving all gears are rather smooth besides 5th. When gearbox is shifting to 5th you can hear rather loud "click". I wouldn't say it's high pitch metalic click, just a loud click, without any jerking. It happens only on upshifts, never on downshifts. It also happens only RPM are lower than 2000. With higher, it's fine. What's more, when I take foot off the accelerator, while still beloew 2k RPM, and the gearbox shifts, there's no clicking noise. Also there arent any sounds of grinding/jarring like gearwheels couldn't match. Just one click. So to summarize, it happens only:
- on 5th gear
- while accelerating
- on upshifts
- while belowe 2k RPM

1k mile ago I did dynamic fluid change - no effect.
I unplugged battery for an hour for a factory reset - no effect.
At Ford's they told me they don't know why, but if it's shifting and driving it's probably "normal" for 10R80. Yet somehow I do not find normal a loud click on a specific gear.

Any ideas what it might be? Maybe someone had similar problem? Of course car drives fine while on 5th gear. It's my dailydriver so for now I have a habit while on 3rd to get into 3k RPM so it shifts smoothly to 5th.

I don't know if it's relevant but while accelerating (no matter the gear) I hear a really quiet rattle under a car. Very quiet and only while touch pedal - it dissapears after a second or two. It does not happen while reving in a place so it's definetly something with a drivetrain.

A small update. The sound is definetly a double click. You can hear it once just before the end of a video. Video is a bit muted becasue I tried to get rid of a wind.

Just an FYI from my perspective. I thought the battery disconnected thing to reset the learning did something. Unfortunately I realized it didn't do anything until I actually clear the adaptive learning in forscan. It made an immediate difference in shifting, for better or worse, but I'm still seeing if there are issues after it learns from my driving style.
