No one chooses to be LBGT.
Hence the confusion over it being something to celebrate or be proud about. People don't choose their blood type either, but you don't see people with type-O blood (the obviously best kind) being demonstrably "proud" of it.

I could care less if someone is gay. I have gay friends and relatives. Hell, I've probably turned some women gay. But pride, other than how the word is used for workmanship (for example) is a BAD thing. And that was the point of this thread.

And people wring their hands, all confused wondering why the young. So mixed up from the crap pumped into their heads. Go out and shoot up a school.

Adults are supposed to guild and help the young, not confuse and frustrate them.
One could argue that posts like yours (in this and other threads) are a main reason we have school shooters.

This is America... people want to Live Free or Die. Unfortunately, some people seem to think it only applies to them or their group.

Don't feel too threatened that Pride month is invading your safe space. It is always interesting when someone takes such a strong stance on something like this.

Your posts are a bit off, imo. Which is why someone posted the link to gay pride earlier, but then you claimed they didn't get the "joke".

Gay pride is not about having pride in being gay (at least from what I've read online)... although, I'm sure you could find someone who would say just that. But finding those people would be like finding someone who says they purchased a Mustang for only street racing. They don't represent the entire group.

This might help:

https://www.loc.gov/lgbt-pride-month/about/

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Pride Month is currently celebrated each year in the month of June to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan.

The purpose of the commemorative month is to recognize the impact that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals have had on history locally, nationally, and internationally.

People with type O blood aren't actively discriminated against, told to hide who they are, face massively high suicide rates and depression, are considered freaks and deviants, etc. It is because of things like the pride movement that people can be open about who they are and that you are aware that you have gay friends and relatives who aren't living in the closet. It isn't remotely the same.

No one chooses to have Irish heritage, but I must have missed the thread saying that St Patrick's Day parades are bad.

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

Gotcha. You think it has nothing to do with pride, but think its a bit off for someone to point out the silliness of calling it pride instead of calling it history or something it actually is about.

I apologize for making a joke you also do not get. None of those things are anything to be proud of. They are things to be dismayed about.

Lots of people have to hide who they are, not just people who are LGBTQ. There is a long list of things people hide as to not be discriminated against or made fun of worse put in prison for "being who they are". Jeffrey Dahmer lived his life as who he truly was and look where that got him.

I've pointed out how the name started and what they are celebrating (having "pride" in). If you don't believe that, okay. I also stated some might be celebrating "pride". I don't roll in those circles like that, but I'd guess some might take "pride" (I've already explained that...). I provided you the information I was told by someone who is LGBT.

It is not a big deal to me what they call it so I'll leave you to it. Raise that fist to the sky!!!!

For me it is interesting some in our society still find this an "issue" to "write home about" (aka Pride month). I'm old and they have been marching before I was even born. It is remarkable.

What is even more remarkable is when the most vocal against it finally cume out of the closet.

I hid my depression for years so as to not appear weak, especially around my older male peers. It was not until I let it out and started to talk about these issues that I started to come to terms with depression, that it will probably always be with me and that I'm not the alone with these struggles. Having the ability to do that was liberating. It should be the same for any person who has something that is eating themselves from the inside.

I'm not saying these issues should be shoved in other people's faces, that's not me, but to sit behind a computer screen and make un-educated and hurtful comments is just pathetic. (And I say that not pointing fingers, including the post from DemonGT I have just quoted, rather it's to highlight how humans should behave towards one another, with respect and perspective. Everyone is different.)

I don't get it, why people want to fly a flag about who they are attracted to. Am I special because I like skinny brunet females? Is my neighbor special because he likes heavy set blond females? Is my niece special because she likes red head females?

No none of us are special. Get over yourself and live your life the way you want. Just don't expect me to celebrate your choices or likes.

i know the comment above says no one chooses to be lbtgz but… some people are peer pressured into it now.

I know a gay women couple which is fine, but they are raising their son wearing dresses. He’s 6 years old and he likes to wear dresses, I actually got into a little debacle w one of them stating. “I don’t think he would wear dresses if you didn’t encourage it” and she flipped shit on me.

my friends daughter is 12 and said half of her classmates are calling themself trans or gay because it’s what is cool now. If you aren’t basically those you’re not special.

its a real situation we got brewing here. Social stigma is wanting these kids to act ourside the norm for either attention, to be cool, or by persuasion of outside act.

going to have a lot more suicides I fear, and worst part is it is completely avoidabl

So reading this thread gives me a lot of mixed feelings about things that kind of bother me.

I completely understand the circumstances and choices people make. As someone in the medical field, I see tragedies every day that are senseless.

But on the other hand, what kind of society are we truly living in?

I had a similar a conversation with a friend over a few beers. His main point of argument was that the world and its freedoms has flipped over on its head. This is with both race and sexuality. The world has taken it too far. Society has ransacked the normal.

He wasn’t happy with his job, so was decided he was going to pursue a new path. He chuckled at the opportunities flying his way! He said that every single place he interviewed was tripping over their feet get him. And this was a new field for him! Very little real experience for him. He doesn’t have the skill set nor experience. He thought it was going to be tough to land a job because of that. Instead, he explains there were companies offering him salary and title far beyond what he knew his worth to be. Said it didn’t matter though.

He explains it as such. Every single offer he received was from a company wanting to “even out their work force”. He provided the example of the NFL and the rules they have that it is mandatory they interview candidates of visible minorities. He smiled and laughed and said it really doesn’t matter anymore who is the BEST person for the job; it’s the person with the most visible minority that will get the job. Companies have to even out their diversity so that it “looks good”.

I just shook my head... he ended up taking the highest paying position that he knows the least about. He admitted he has no clue about what he’s doing but he feels he will learn on the job.

His “saving grace” as he told me, he is a gay middle-aged man of colour! Who in their right mind wouldn’t hire him? Skill set be damned. He checks all the boxes as far as minorities that companies can’t find enough.

He likes to tease me about that when we get together. His go to line... I’ve got that “it factor” man.

Perhaps off topic, but not really...

hes also untouchable for firing most likely, my grandma was customer service for 27 years at Walmart, retired awhile back. she had minority people she could literally not fire, they didnt work, they would steal and let their friends steal, caught red handed. She had a girl who would literally let people bring empty tv boxes in and she would cash them out with cash, etc.

Grandma said it was completely against policy and if anyone else did it they was literally fired, but this girl and her friends got away with it. Was not able to fire any of them. (im in ohio, and crime is rampant here stores shutting down left and right from legit robberies everyday)

but yeah, its becoming that way here too. Ive actually seen majority of stores hiring only minorities for most part, target for example they put out awhile back they wanted to even out the workforce, it went from 90% white 10% minority to 75% minority and 25% white, and the store is in shambles, dirty, no customer service, people won't even talk to you and if they do they act like you are harassing/bothering them.

I only shop online now. and Walmart (which I hate and dont go anyway) but awhile back I had this issue, needed something and it was in the back, the guy said no its not in stock, inventory showed 5, said no not in stock.

so I asked a kid I saw restocking games, he said yeah man. we got them in the bin back there, I said well the other guy said he had none. he said I aint getting involved, im just low man here. they had shift change, saw the kid walk out with all 5 of them. he bought them for himself.

this was ps5 days/headsets etc. I told grandma about this since she worked at that location, and said yep, they would be fired for that a long time ago, but no one gets fired anymore and minorities, untouchable.

EQUALITY means being treated equal and doing same amount of work for the same job title. nope.

Also another mini rant, when I was in the service, I got out. I wanted jobs on the base that I was qualified for / etc. Literally applied to EVERY SINGLE JOB on the bases! REFUSED REFUSED REFUSED. I contacted the hiring management, they said if you aren't phillipino you aren't getting the job.

I said what the fuk? every single job position was filled only by phillipino/asians. He told me we have these contracts with the other nations to fill these spots with literally 99% ethnic positions. brb asian lady sitting behind hotel desk on base making 30 an hour qualified because she's asian and barely speaks English.

Every job was required of this criteria under the government on that base in Alaska. Now I did get hired as an police officer shortly after, but this made me irate.
