Hence the confusion over it being something to celebrate or be proud about. People don't choose their blood type either, but you don't see people with type-O blood (the obviously best kind) being demonstrably "proud" of it.No one chooses to be LBGT.
One could argue that posts like yours (in this and other threads) are a main reason we have school shooters. And people wring their hands, all confused wondering why the young. So mixed up from the crap pumped into their heads. Go out and shoot up a school.
Adults are supposed to guild and help the young, not confuse and frustrate them.
Your posts are a bit off, imo. Which is why someone posted the link to gay pride earlier, but then you claimed they didn't get the "joke".Hence the confusion over it being something to celebrate or be proud about. I could care less if someone is gay. I have gay friends and relatives. Hell, I've probably turned some women gay. But pride, other than how the word is used for workmanship (for example) is a BAD thing. And that was the point of this thread.
People with type O blood aren't actively discriminated against, told to hide who they are, face massively high suicide rates and depression, are considered freaks and deviants, etc. It is because of things like the pride movement that people can be open about who they are and that you are aware that you have gay friends and relatives who aren't living in the closet. It isn't remotely the same.Hence the confusion over it being something to celebrate or be proud about. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.Men sex with men is a sin. I will just only say that
Gotcha. You think it has nothing to do with pride, but think its a bit off for someone to point out the silliness of calling it pride instead of calling it history or something it actually is about.Your posts are a bit off, imo. Gay pride is not about having pride in being gay
I apologize for making a joke you also do not get. None of those things are anything to be proud of. They are things to be dismayed about.People with type O blood aren't actively discriminated against, told to hide who they are, face massively high suicide rates and depression, are considered freaks and deviants, etc. It is because of things like the pride movement that people can be open about who they are and that
Lots of people have to hide who they are, not just people who are LGBTQ. There is a long list of things people hide as to not be discriminated against or made fun of worse put in prison for "being who they are". Jeffrey Dahmer lived his life as who he truly was and look where that got him.People with type O blood aren't actively discriminated against, told to hide who they are, face massively high suicide rates and depression, are considered freaks and deviants, etc. It is because of things like the pride movement that people can be open about who they are and that you are aware that you have gay friends and relatives who aren't living in the closet. No one chooses to have Irish heritage, but I must have missed the thread saying that St Patrick's Day parades are bad.

I've pointed out how the name started and what they are celebrating (having "pride" in). If you don't believe that, okay. I also stated some might be celebrating "pride". I don't roll in those circles like that, but I'd guess some might take "pride" (I've already explained that...). I provided you the information I was told by someone who is LGBT.Gotcha. You think it has nothing to do with pride, but think its a bit off for someone to point out the silliness of calling it pride instead of calling it history or something it actually is about.
I will admit I am a sinner but I pray every day to do betterLet he who is without sin cast the first stone.
I hid my depression for years so as to not appear weak, especially around my older male peers. It was not until I let it out and started to talk about these issues that I started to come to terms with depression, that it will probably always be with me and that I'm not the alone with these struggles. Having the ability to do that was liberating. It should be the same for any person who has something that is eating themselves from the inside.Lots of people have to hide who they are, not just people who are LGBTQ. hes also untouchable for firing most likely, my grandma was customer service for 27 years at Walmart, retired awhile back. she had minority people she could literally not fire, they didnt work, they would steal and let their friends steal, caught red handed. She had a girl who would literally let people bring empty tv boxes in and she would cash them out with cash, etc.So reading this thread gives me a lot of mixed feelings about things that kind of bother me.
I completely understand the circumstances and choices people make. As someone in the medical field, I see tragedies every day that are senseless.
But on the other hand, what kind of society are we truly living in?
I had a similar a conversation with a friend over a few beers. His main point of argument was that the world and its freedoms has flipped over on its head. This is with both race and sexuality. The world has taken it too far. Society has ransacked the normal.
He wasn’t happy with his job, so was decided he was going to pursue a new path. He chuckled at the opportunities flying his way! He said that every single place he interviewed was tripping over their feet get him. And this was a new field for him! Very little real experience for him. He doesn’t have the skill set nor experience. He thought it was going to be tough to land a job because of that. Instead, he explains there were companies offering him salary and title far beyond what he knew his worth to be. Said it didn’t matter though.
He explains it as such. Every single offer he received was from a company wanting to “even out their work force”. He provided the example of the NFL and the rules they have that it is mandatory they interview candidates of visible minorities. He smiled and laughed and said it really doesn’t matter anymore who is the BEST person for the job; it’s the person with the most visible minority that will get the job. Companies have to even out their diversity so that it “looks good”.
I just shook my head... he ended up taking the highest paying position that he knows the least about. He admitted he has no clue about what he’s doing but he feels he will learn on the job.
His “saving grace” as he told me, he is a gay middle-aged man of colour! Who in their right mind wouldn’t hire him? Skill set be damned. He checks all the boxes as far as minorities that companies can’t find enough.
He likes to tease me about that when we get together. His go to line... I’ve got that “it factor” man.
Perhaps off topic, but not really...
