Prevent front bumper damage on low curbs

In order to prevent this happening has someone come up with a way to mount a sensor on the front bumper to avoid running the front splitter up on a low curb? I think I remember seeing a post awhile back but my fail search inputs couldn't find anything. It is for when I drop my car, I won't have the clearance anymore. I'm still not 100% comfortable backing it in with the camera, plus people are impatient. Any suggestions besides parking in the boonies.

Do you really need another Electronic nanny?

I've not touched a curb or parking block with my front end. You need to go practice in a lot with no cars on either side of your spot. Learn to stop before you put the splitter over the curb. It's easy to do. Edge the car up to one, stop, get out and check where you are in relation to the curb. Then get back in the car and look at the curb from the driver's seat. Fix that picture in your mind. Back out and pull in again and stop when you get that picture.

If there are cars on either side of the spot you want to pull into look at their front tires. If they are touching the curb or parking block remember your front end shouldn't go up to the front of their tires, stop with your bumper even with the middle of their tires. It takes some getting used to but I'll ask this. Do you parallel park your car by bumping into the cars ahead or behind you? And yes I know we have the camera and park assist but those are only in the rear. You still have to judge the front end.

And after all that, do what makes you feel good don't listen to me spouting off.

You are brave enough to park in the thick of other cars, and are worried about scraping the bottom of your car? What about the dents and dings from shopping carts/doors/purses/children/etc... ?

On topic though, just practice gauging where the front end is. After a month or two of consciously feeling and watching the dimensions of your car, you shouldn't have many issues parking.

Guys, all it takes is once; happened to me 2 weeks ago, pulling into an angled parking space. Ran the spoiler into a high curb, right on the point. I've seriously been considering getting the sensor that is on American Muscle's site.

I NEVER angle park and I ALWAYS back into a parking space with a curb. I usually try and find a parking space that I can drive thur and ALWAYS face out so's I don't need to back in or out.

No scrubs underneath the front yet. And not planning on any either. :clap2:

I had that Curb Alert on my 2010 Mustang. It was ok but not great. Sometimes it just didn't alert which is almost worse than nothing at all because you pull up expecting to hear the chirp.

What I'd like to see is something that would activate a forward facing camera mounted in the lower grill area when you go below about 5 mph and show it on the My Ford Touch screen.

I back into a parking spot almost 99% of the time. I have a lowered mustang and a lowered 08 Tahoe.
On a side note. You should see how many idiots run up on you when trying to back into a spot. Almost as dangerous as pulling up to the curb!

If I back into my parking spot at work, I'll get a ticket. Head in parking only so parking patrol can see parking permits in the rear window.

I've solved my issue at work by using the back up camera by pulling in and the putting it in reverse and lining the parking lines up with the edge of the bumper. Video distorts the image slightly since you are actually inside the lines.

At home I park at an angle up against my garage door frame. Sometimes I'm a little over cautious and wind up about 2' away, sticking out too far for my daughter to back out and around my back end.

I pulled into a spot at Autozone last week that had a higher than normal curb I bumped. My first time bumping a curb. I wish Ford could have put a camera on the front with a button to activate like they did with some of their SUV's.
