I have been discussing this topic on my local thread but I wanted to open it up to the masses to assist me in my decision making.

On Nov 28th my wife ordered me a 2016 DIB GT Premium w/ PP, 400a w/ Nav, Ceramic interior. That is what I told her that I wanted for my 40th b-day (Jan 30th). She found out last Monday it will be about the 3rd week in Feb before it gets here.

Long story longer. I found out a few weeks ago about Ford's Conquest A Plan for friends and neighbors. I have a few friends with family that retired from Ford and with this promotion they were able to generate me an A Plan PIN :headbang: This was great because she was fine with paying X Plan for it so the additional $2k off was really awesome.

I was a little pissed that it was taking so long for the car that I ordered to get here that I have been looking all over to find the car at a lot so I could just go get it, but apparently Ceramic is a tough color to find with all the options that I want on it. While looking I found a 2016 DIB GT Premium w/ PP, 401a, Nav, Rear Park Assist with Premier Ebony Trim at a dealer about 50 miles away.

I originally told my wife that I didn't want the black interior since it seemed that every DIB out there has the black interior, but this is the Premier Trim interior vs the standard Ceramic interior.

So what are your thoughts? Do I just wait on what I ordered or is the Premier Trim worth the difference even though it is Ebony? Is there that much difference in the Premier Ebony over the standard Ebony to see a visual difference? The local one does have WAY more bells and whistles on it and the ability to use the A Plan pricing has really effected the way I can look at this purchase. Any which way it goes I know I am gonna get an awesome car.

Thanks! :ford:

The Premier Trim is nice. In addition to the seats, the door upper panel is soft touch instead of hard plastic. And the dash top is a better material with real contrasting stitching instead of molded in fake stitching.

There are 3 versions (ebony with gray stitching, ebony with red inserts and red and white stitching (RedLine), and ebony with yellow stitching) and some are only available with certain paint colors but you can see which ones in a brochure or by the build your own at the Ford web site where you can select your paint color and then click in the Premier Trim option you want. If its not available for your paint, it will tell you you have to change your paint.

Update: looks like DIB can have the ebony with gray stitching or RedLine (ebony with red seat and door inserts) and red and white stitching.

I have the premier trim and every time I get in the car I am reminded that I made a great choice...but I was going for a more upscale look inside. Either way, enjoy your ride when you get it, congrats!!!

I am kicking myself for not making this a poll.

I appreciate the replies so far but let me clarify some more.

I did enough homework, originally, to know I didn't want the standard black interior. I then went down the hole of looking into doing the Redline (non-Recaro's) but decided it would be to much for me with DIB, so I decided to go Ceramic. I know that the Ceramic is not out there as much as the standard ebony is so that is why I wanted it in the first place.

If the one at the local dealership would have been exactly the same thing as I have ordered except with JUST the Premier Ebony trim I probably wouldn't be interested in it. But this one has 401a and the other things mentioned above. Basically this thread is just about the interior and if the "individualism" from having the Ceramic interior is still better than going with the Premier Ebony.

For example if I were to go sit in a car with the standard leather seats then sit in one with the Premier leather seats am I going to notice that big of a difference? I know it is just more than the seats so lets take the whole interior as a whole. Is it just that much better?

No, the individualism isn't worth losing out on the upgraded materials IMO. Have you sat in both? If not, you should try to. The difference is really noticeable.

I like the way the ceramic breaks up the dark cabin.

I am planning on trying to do that next Saturday. A snow storm came through the Nashville area and it just isn't worth the drive to mess with it this weekend.

I have a black premier trim interior, and as has already been mentioned, it is IMO the best $400 or $500 (whatever it costs now) you can spend on the car. While there is a certain "rarity" in the ceramic interior, the same applies to the premier trim. For whatever reason, it seems like dealers rarely check the box to order it.

It also includes soft touch material with contrasting stitching on the center console, and the leather is a better quality material. Unless you are dead set on the ceramic interior, you should get the premier trim. Keep in mind that black is easier to keep clean, too.

I don't like black interiors but I like token colored patches even worse because they remind me just how worse options have become. Most Mustang buyers aren't old enough to remember when you could get whole interiors in multiple colors even in every day cars. So I like the all black except some seat or door panels about as much as I like 59 oz bottles of OJ or 14 oz packages of hot dogs. Hell one of the biggest reasons I ordered my Cadillac (other than a 6 speed manual and FI) is that it doesn't have a spec of black anywhere in it except some piano black trim around the center stack. [/rant]

So for me an Ebony interior was by far the lessor of two evils. At least I'm not constantly thinking why isn't my dash and this and that also ceramic or red or ?????

I have the convertible version of the car you want. I also had to order due to the ceramic interior and nickel wheela, I am very happy with it though. Make sure you get what you want.

If you don't like black interior, you won't like the Premier Ebony. It's still a black interior, albeit with really nice leather and pretty stitching.

If you were ordering tomorrow I would be telling you to think about getting Redline with DIB, since it looks like a Ferrari/Maserati combo. Really sharp. But since you have Ceramic on order, I can't imagine you are going to be real happy with black. Be patient, many of us who ordered early cars waited a LOT longer than you will (I waited exactly four months) and once you have it, none of that matters. Get the one you want! You live with the interior every single time you get in the car.

I had to make the same decision when I ordered mine. I liked the contrast of the Ceramic, but in the end picked the Premier for the better feel of the leather & door surfaces + the stitching on the dash binnacles.

So is it that much better? Do you regret it at all?
