Why didn't you also bold "on track"? This is the whole point that keeping it in the powerband mostly matters on track. Do you often drive near the peak horsepower on the street?

To me, 95% is about keeping up with Civics and highway driving. Maybe I wish for a shorter gearing a few times every year. To me a longer gearing is a better compromise.

I am not the only one complaining about the gearing. They are many ppl who didn't opt for PP due to 3.73.

There are also many ppl who didn't opt for PP. I am just saying the short gearing is not ideal for some of us, and it is one of the reasons ppl didn't choose PP. If you are arguing that everyone should love 3.73, then so be it.

dang.. I have PP and been averaging 18MPG for 10k miles.
I don't care.. 18MPG is still better than my VW W8.
All smiles when I am in my mustang. I enjoy changing gears my self.

I avg ~16 mpg and use all the gears with Sunoco 93, all the time and like to rev it out but apparently not enough highway miles to get me up to 20 mpg. I expect it will be less after the power pach 2 but don't really care.

Double clutching is more for down shifting unless you're driving a commercial truck without synchros..

Nope. Double clutching is for skipping gears also. You don't hit the throttle when up shift skipping. I made a living out of driving heavy duty trucking. I know how it's done.

If you buy the PP and enjoy using all the gears, that's good for you.

If you buy the PP and have to constantly skip gears, that's simply a poor choice of gearing. It's just unforunate that you don't enjoy/benefit from every single change brought by the PP. The rest of the PP is still brilliant.

I often shift 1-2-4 in town when I rev it up a bit in 2nd. I hit the speed limit in 2nd then what? Drop it in 4th and cruise. Highway on-ramps or any place where I can stretch the Pony's legs gets the proper 1 thru 6.

Same here. I hit every gear, every time I drive. Why? Because it is fun and that is the joy of having a manual. Not to mention, the glorious sound the Coyote makes with an aftermarket exhaust setup as the RPMs build prior to each upshift or downshift.

I go through all the gears, never skip really, except that I rarely use 6th. Most of my driving is city driving, and so 6th only gets used on infrequent open road trips. In 5th, around town, I still have enough getup and go to avoid the need to downshift, unless I really want to slam it.

That and I always feel like I have to baby the shift into 6th. It has a tendency to clunk unless I am careful with the clutch. So it's a little extra shifting effort than the lower gears.

I get 18-19 mpg and drive it like I please. I didn't buy the car for economy. Actually I was pleasantly surprised at the mileage. Hwy trips are in the low 20s. A friend of mine gets 9mpg with his AMG... perspective.
