The main reason I didn't want PP is because the gearing is too aggresive for DD, and I think it's more expensive to change the gearing ratio than any other mods. I don't want to go through too many gears between every stop light.

I never understood this reasoning. 2-4-6 too much? you could even 2-6 if you want.

The best part of the 3:73 is that it provides power in any gear (except 6th). I live in the stop light state and want to try a gear change that will get me to the other side of the intersection before I hit 2nd. I placed my order for the power pack 2 and plan to change to 3:55, that along with the extra TQ will allow me to stretch each gear further and be close to the same power level as the 3:73.

Then what's the point of a 6-speed manual? Ford should just design a 3-speed tranny if 1,3,5 are rarely used.

I understand the shorter gearing is good on track if you want to stay in the powerband most of the time. On the street, I prefer more spacing between gears, and I like the rev staying low for highway speed.

The 3.15's feel a wee bit sluggish in Drive, but in Sport Mode they're all the gear you need. I hate the way the auto shifts while in D, it's so tame. S has much more aggressive shifting. If you're able to use the paddle shifters you can ensure you exit every turn in 1st for maximum boners. Keep that shit in S.

I'm not sure what everyone is talking about (a few, I should say) about the gears. I think they're absolutely perfect.

The first manual I ever drove was a 2006 Civic. Every turn I had to down shift to second, in the GT? It's 3rd. I find power in every gear, and to absolutely optimize fuel efficiency on the highway, I leave it in sixth. I've consistently reached 25-29mpg.

I use them every day, but if you don't like changing gears then maybe a 3 speed manual would work for you.

All 6 are there when you want, but you don't need them to drive around town at all. I often go 1-3-5-6 during my commute to work, sometimes 1-2-4-6. I have the 3.31 gears, so while I can start in second gear on a flat road, it requires a little more clutch slip than I like, so I typically use first which is long enough to be usable, but still fairly short overall. The PP gears really aren't that bad, and being able to skip shift because you have that much available torque is pretty sweet.

I average about 16-17mpg. But I'm running on 77% ethanol. ;-)

I love having the short gears. I can have fun in any gear I drop it in. The powerband is always there. That and I just love banging through gears nothing beats it. When I am just trying to drive like a civilized person, you can leave in 2nd, shift to 4th and then close it with 6th, nothing hard about it. 4100 miles so far and my average is usually 17mpg with the 3.73. That's with highway driving as well. 6th on the highway @ 78 cruise puts you around 2400rpm from what I remember.

You answered your own question. More accessible power when you choose. I have the 3.73's and have no issues. I average 20mpg per tank in over 10,000 miles. And it's not from baby'ing the car, I wore out my tires in 8200 miles.

Same here. I hit every gear, every time I drive. Why? Because it is fun and that is the joy of having a manual. Not to mention, the glorious sound the Coyote makes with an aftermarket exhaust setup as the RPMs build prior to each upshift or downshift.

Wants great fuel economy.
Has the option for a V6 or Turbo I4
Buys V8 and complains about fuel economy
