I understand that this question is relatively subjective, but I'm fine with personal opinion. I'm having trouble making a decision. I'm definitely getting the GT Premium w/ Performance Package, but I'm on the fence about the 50th Anniversary Appearance Package.

I understand that if you get BOTH, any overlapping features between the two trims will default to the PP. So, that said, in reality, if you get both of these packages together, you're only getting some subtle changes to the interior and exterior for about however much the package costs.

Is it worth it? I'm not quite sure. On one hand, my logical brain says - no, that's stupid. You're not getting wheels, you're not getting any special dash (aside from the 50th Anny badge), but you're still paying full price for the package.

On the other hand, I'm planning on keeping this car garaged with low miles. Will it be worth much 40 years down the road? Who knows? But at current, this car isn't planned to be a year round daily driver. I'd drive it to work and to cruise in (15 minute commute) during the summer and garage it during the winter. Additionally, my mother owns a cherry 25th Anniversary Mustang, and it's neat to see the badging on it.

Help me out, fellas.

What people do not understand is that the package REPLACES the standard wheels, which do cost money. People are thinking that "Oh I lose a whole set of wheels this is absurd" when in reality the different wheels and tires are about 200 additional in costs in reality for the set of 4. A set of new wheels and tires completely without replacing the standard ones would be a minimum of 1,000, which is 66% of the anniversary package costs. I'm sure my figures are wrong, but regardless Ford charges what they think the packages will sell for so they get the biggest profit averages and most sales averages. They are ripping you off when you order the two.

Back to your post, I being 19 years old, did not think it was worth an additional $1,500 for the anniversary badges. I only ordered the performance package instead of both on my order. I'll be doing my own interior modification once the aftermarket comes out with nicer oem looking materials such as carbon fiber, kevlar, or other metals.

I do understand this. :) I'll admit that initially I did not understand the double-wheel markup when purchasing both packages, but I did understand that stock wheel price is factored into the 50th Anniversary Package.

I think I'm with you. Essentially, I'd be paying some money for upgrades that I won't physically own.

I'm still on the fence, personally, but I'm leaning more towards not getting the appearance package.

No :help: Buy what you want and what makes you happy. Don't buy into what other people tell you that makes them happy.

Agreed.

Forget all the talk you've heard thus far. If you can swing the $1,500 go for it. If you can't swing it or justify it don't. It's just up to you.

I went for both. Why you ask? Because I wanted my car 10 years down the road to just not be a GT mustang. I have a 2005 right now which I've supercharged and spent a lot of time and money modifying. The thing that bothers me the most about it is no matter what I've done to it and how well it looks or performs it's just a GT. My car will outperform most every Roush, Saleen, Steeda or what have you but it's "just a GT". For me it's not a giant thing but I have spent a lot of my life making this masterpiece (to me) and when people see it and they look for special badging and then go "it's just a GT" it kinda bothers me

Now before you LE people jump all over me I KNOW ITS NOT AND ACTUAL LE. I chose NOT no get an LE because to me it makes no sense to modify an LE like I did and plan to with my new one. The LE is what it is, a limited edition and it should stay that way for it to be desirable in the future (in my opinion).

Now to my point. For me, down the road I can at least always say it's a 50 year version GT mustang. I know it does not add a numerical value to the car but it does add a "worth" so to speak to it. 10 years down the road someone might be willing to buy mine and maybe even spend slightly more to have a 50 year version GT over "just a GT"

Absolutely no offense to anybody here, seriously. I have had 12 other mustangs throughout my life and they all have been either GT or just a plain mustang. I do not mean to imply that GT is not a worthy car. I just wanted something that makes it stand out of the sea of GT's and be a car that I could modify without hurting its value.

Good luck with your decision but make it for you.

I can afford it, and that's where I was initially leaning, Jmeo.

Thanks for the response. I am building it for ME. I just don't want to waste my money, ya dig?

I'll figure it out. Just wanted to bounce the idea off the forum wall.

Thanks again.

Do you like the way the exterior and interior changes look? Does any particular item standout that you like more than the others?

You could probably retrofit certain parts but the cost might be more or less than the option price. To me, this is one way to determine if it is value for the dollar you spend.

Although I really like the 50 Years embossing in the seats I strongly prefer charcoal leather over black leather plus I also don't particularly like the grill or the gas cap or the chrome trim arount the tail lights that come with the anniversary package.

The only thing I really like about the package are the wheels, but those you don't get when combined with the PP. And since PP is a must for me the whole anniversary package is even more a whole lot of money for a whole lot of nothing, aka stuff I either don't like or don't even get.

So for me it's a no brainer not getting it, but we're all different so I understand that other people might actually value and/or like those options and are willing to pay for them.

Honestly, I'm not sure what the interior looks like with 50th Ann package. The only thing I know about the exterior is the corral and faux gas cap. Any chance you guys could point me in the direction of pics of 50th Interior? I am interested in knowing what the inserts look like on the interior.

Once it's in my Name-->Time to Mod. I'll save all the original parts.

I'm gonna Black-Out the Window & Taillight Chrome, soon as I get it in my garage. I may eliminate the Black between the Taillights at the same time...Then performance Mods...After all, it's my Car, not Ford's or anybody else's.

Not sold on them either but I'll most likely change the grill and faux so to the GT version. Kinda like the tail lights though

Glad to hear that. Most people don't mod SE cars. Enjoy and keep the pictures flowin

Although I ended up modding my car past the point of return to factory. That's kinda what I was referring to. Can't wait to see your future pics

On my Boss, I blacked the stripe across the side marker & added a Boss sticker on the rear...At a Mustang/Ford show, I heard comments of how it looked Better & How I ruined it + where can I get one of those Boss stickers...Bottom line it's mine and that's all that matters.

The only reason I got the 50th Anniversary package was because of the corralled pony grill. Frankly, I think the stock grill looks a little silly without the corralled pony. I'm also a fan of the rear gas cap, although I'd prefer that it had the pony / tribar logo rather than the "GT 50 years," but whatever.

I'm probably going to end up getting rid of the wheels because I am 100% a chrome wheels guy, but there was no way I could do without that corralled pony grill.
