Speaking of anger and resentment over the Auto PP fiasco... :-) (Yes its a sore subject for me LOL). Ford couldn't even offer a frickin Brembo brake package for the autos this year as they have in years past when Autos couldnt get the track package but could get the Brembo package. I mean I would have even been happy with THAT. You'd get the fatter wheels and tires and the Brembos. Just super pissed off at Ford this year because I feel I've had to compromise on performance this model year to get an Auto and its all because of some bean counter's stupid arbitrary decision. The greatest thing about the Brembo and Perf packages are that they are available for non super rich buyers brcause they are available on base and premiums. So its a double travesty they they screwed auto buyers this time.

The 50 LE's have auto and PP, the probably wanted the LE to be more exclusive.

Also mine is an auto with the PP. The EB can do it but the GT can't yet

Bingo. They wanted those 1964 LEs to be exclusive for this year with auto and the PP. Evident as stated above that the Eco can do auto and PP.

That is such a stupid justification if that was the real reason from Ford which I doubt. They were always going to sell all the LEs they produced because they are making so few. And a PP package isnt some exclusive thing. Every single manual buyer gets the same PP thats on the LE. Does that make it less special? They could have sold every LE they made AND sold tons and tons of option add ons auto owners would have put on their orders

I'm sure they probably crunched the numbers on the GT and saw that they would sell a lot more manual GTs and end up saving more than they would make in manufacturing costs. Thats why they let you do auto trans with the Ecoboost PP because it will be a higher percentage of people who don't drive manual

On topic:
From what I've seen, online and in person, I'd say roughly 50/50.

Off topic 1:
I agree with Auto guys. Ford should have added the option of PP for Auto + an option of non-black wheels.

Off topic 2:
I agree with most of you guys. LE AP is a waist of money. In my opinion: Chrome accent taillights are tacky. Front grill logo seems to be a bit over sized. Wheels are so so. Optional 19" and 20" look much better. Interior is okay but I really prefer the Dark Saddle or Ceramic.

To each their own, but for me, the appearance package is totally worth it. The corralled pony and the fake gascap alone are worth $1500 to me. The interior upgrades are outstanding. The car is just gorgeous with the Appearance Package.

Some people bought this car to go fast; I'll never be approaching half the limits of this car. I want a car that looks and feels special, regardless of performance. And it's worth it to look more special.

This right here, I couldn't have typed it any better myself. :D This is exactly why I ordered mine with the 50th Anniversary Appearance Package as well. I have a '65 convertible and this is another reason I wanted the package, to celebrate the heritage of the car that has been in production for 50 years.

Besides, one of the reasons that the original Mustang was so popular and still is: Because you could order it a ton of different ways, however you liked it. :clap2:

Coral grill = V6. Faux gas cap = played out. So for me, even those appearance items are things I think don't look good. For all of us S197 owners, the coral grill will always equate to the V6. The cheap Mustangs had those and the GTs did not, they had the quad headlights. Hard to change 10 years of association. Also the fake gas cap was around for the entire last gen as well and I am not fond of it anymore.

Looked at another way - the $1595 "trim package" includes a 19" wheel option that would normally be $995, and the "premier trim" option, which lists at $395. So if you were going to get those two things anyway, all of the other stuff is only costing you $205.

My original order included those two options, and when I ended up buying off of the lot instead, I was a little bummed that I wouldn't get them. As it turned out, the car I bought had the 50th Appearance Package - so I got what I wanted *plus* nicer seats and a better looking dash insert.

So, for my money, it turned out to be worthwhile.

I think one way to look at it is - people that bought 50 years AP knew what they paid for. Those purely appearance related items and obviously were worth $1.5k for them. How many people paid $2.5k for PP and will never take their car to the track ? Hard time believing it makes any difference on your way to work or drive through nearby...

(Not that there's anything wrong with PP - everybody can spend their money any way they choose)

The way I look at is that my wife really wanted it on our vert and I am glad that she likes the Mustangs well enough to even care, so what the heck? I do have to say that it seems a bit crazy to get both the 50th and PP unless cost is not an issue
