@Cobra Jet ...

1) do you dilute the simple green?
2) don't cover alternator with plastic bag?
3) wd40 on what specific metal areas?

have never cleaned my engine bay in almost 3 years, think I'm going to do it for the first time soon so I just want to make sure. thanks.

Only one time I had a issue with my 2015 mustang when I had it ..I got the electronic power streeing box to wet while washing it.Was not fully dry and when I started the car ..I had no power streeing..I went under the hood to dry it off by hand ,BIG mistake..it shocked me pretty good .So just some Safety caution. After It dried out ..everything was good to go.

Just something

I mix SG 1 part too 10 water.
Using a bug canister type sprayer
Cold/dry motor
Set nozzle for fan spray, spray the compartment, couple of passes will do it.

I like the bug sprayer because I can hit the front & sides of the motor, nooks & crannies, the wand allows that

Without letting it dry, wait some, hose nozzle set for fan spray. Water turned up to have a full fan/shower type pattern, not blasting, flowing.

Rinse, not blast the area, no need to try and drown the thing . One or two passes will do it.

Let drain, if anal, leaf blow the compartment & fire it up.

What's with all the pressure washing , you drive the cars off road ?

I 've been buying this stuff & using, on all things with wheels. Motors, suspension, rear ends motorcycle, yard machines. As far back as 1980, get it on a Motorcycle chain will need to re-oil same.

I've been googling SG and cannot come up with a cleaner that looks like what you are posting about. Link please?

I cover my alternator with a Target bag. Water probably won't hurt it, but why take the chance? Don't want dirt and grit-infused water running into it.

I use my foam cannon to foam it first, let it sit a while, and rinse it with the pressure washer, only blasting stuff that's not electrical, and giving sensitive stuff a gentle rinse from a distance.

I've had Simple Green discolor an aluminum engine block on a previous car, so I'm warry of that brand. Make sure whatever degreaser you're using is safe for aluminum, or test it before using it on the entire engine bay.

Some ZEP citrus degreaser worked for me on the Mustang. I don't often clean the engine bay, but I was pretty impressed how well some degreaser and low pressure water from the garden hose worked.

Didn't cover anything.

I've cleaned many aluminum engine parts, raw (no clear coat)aluminum wheels . User did something wrong

Show me ?

Zep like it for the siding on the house. Would never use it beyond that.

One thing that does destroy an aluminum finsh "Purple Power" .

Certainly not Simple Green, and it also will not hurt painted surfaces .

Yup, good. Glad your stuff is nice and shiney.

I don't have any pictures of the car I mentioned, that car was totaled years ago, but I avoided degreasing my engines for a decade after that incident

Simple green is a brand with like 45 subproducts, so just saying make sure one you're buying is safe for the materials you want to use it on.

Thank you, I do keep them that way. I also do all my own work, not check book HotRods .
Blue truck built at the house took 4 years rust to paint to running.
