No. Catback won't get you much, maybe 3 HP. Get a an intake and good tune from a vendor.
Nope I got 12whp from my Gibson cat back exhaust and a K&N drop in filter on the stock tune using 91octane. It was noticable diffrence after 50 Or so miles after the install. Got to give the computer time to learn. I have already got a defective transmisson that had to get rebuilt so I'm not tuning my car until the warranty is up(or if I order a whipple). Even though I have my SCT sitting in my glove box I'm holding off to make sure I don't have anymore problems.

I have all 3, and I say spend your money on the tune and CAI, if power is what you're after

I am dropping this right here! A Drop in Filter and Catback exhaust HP and Torque gain on a stock Saturn Sky. Stock 234 rwhp and 246 lbft to 250 rwhp and 255 lbft torque.

Your results seems to be reasonable.

A Saturn sky is not a mustang, you cannot say that because it works on a sky that it works on a mustang.

That was just another example. The member already stated the gains with a dyno.
Ya it will give you gains but nothing ground breaking. Tune is needed but even the Sky needed a tune for it to wake up, same thing is true with the GT. If your going to void your warranty don't do it for a measly 30-40hp.... Like others have said if your going to tune your car or want to make more power go boosted.

A tuned GT or my GT on the street or autoX is still a drivers race.... Kinda pointless to void your factory warranty for such a small gain. Especially coming from someone who has had to use it already for a new tranny... NOT WORTH IT!

Go big or go home.... if you don't have the money to go boosted you don't have the money to void your warranty. If you don't have the money to void your warranty don't get a tuner! just my 2 cents. I'm kinda paranoid now about things breaking on me if you cant tell haha.

Boost is great if you have an extra 6-10 grand laying around for the parts and install. Tune and intake won't void your warranty unless your dumb enough to take the car to the dealer without resetting your PCM to stock and bolting the stock air box back on.

Need to upgrade the intake manifold before doing cams, there is plenty to be gained with a better intake mani while still having stock cams. Thing is that no after market intake manifold specifically for the 15 are out yet. You can use the 11-14 boss or cobra jet intake but youll eliminate the intake runner control plates doing so and youll lose a decent amount of power in the low and mid range.

Imo wouldnt mess with cams or heads until a good intake is available. 11-14 Boss or CJ intake would only be good for forced induction imo

I m on the same boat, don't want to void any warranty, my exhaust warranty has been voided due to catback but that doesn't bother me a bit. I also agree on the go big or go home.

Superchargers and the installations are not cheap but well worth it. Whipple seems to be the Monster in the group and Roush is not bad either.

Wow, someone really cited the gains of a Saturn. Not even remotely the same car, different engine, different factory exhaust system, etc. Then there's the alleged 12whp gain with the Gibson and a drop in. Was this done on the same dyno? Was it even done on the same day? You can chalk the difference in power on changes in humidity, ambient air temp, perhaps an oil change in between. In any case, 12 whp isn't very significant on a 5 liter V8 with 3700+ lbs to pull around.

Tune won't void your warranty, plus the big thing about getting a tune isn't just the power gains but the greatly increased throttle response and driveability. Stock tune feels like mush in comparison.

A tune used to void your warranty.....when did that change? If you blow your motor take it a dealer and they discover a tune you are SOOL.

Why would the engine blow up in the first place? Why do people always assume that is the only failure that a warranty covers? Of the thousands of members on this forum how many have blown their engines vs the number who've had to go to the dealer for other warranty work. Of those likely hundreds of members who've had warranty work, how many have had their warranties "voided" from a tune?

What is the complain about the throttle response? Doesn't Sport mode or Track Mode take care of that? I have the AFE filter and Borla Catback duo and it feels like the throttle response increased even in normal driving mode. I would love to put my car on a dyno to see the results.

Indeed,

I think its all in the head. Imagine if Ford rated the engine 450 hp and 410 lbft. Wouldn't you be happy? People here going from 370 whp to even 380 +whp are being happy and relieved. Every extra whp and lbft puts a huge smile on your face. It whatever makes you happy!

I ve seen dyno's here stock gt's putting down from 350 whp to 396 whp. I don't know which dyno or what number to believe also.
