Personally, I would go with powder coat. Not cheap though. I inquired about that for my Brembos and we are talking about $600 CAD, not sure what it costs to have them done in the US. As for color, I would definitely do a bright green. I've seen that on a black 911 and black Lambo and it looked sick!

If you have the base model brakes I wouldn't draw more attention to them than needed. Keep them clean and maybe hit them with some clear coat at best. If you've got the performance pack 2 or larger calipers then go with paint or powdercoat depending on which is able to most closely match the color you're looking for. I used the G2 caliper painting system which is more like a 2 part epoxy than an actual paint and it worked great. Paid extra to have them match my paint color and the turnaround was really quick.

Whatever you do, never use caliper covers. Anyone who cares about how big your brakes are will immediately identify the covers for what they are and any "cool points" you got for the painted calipers will be stripped away by the fact that they're just covers of the ugly brakes underneath.

I wonder if you guys that say this all the time ever think about how some people just do it cosmetically? The base brakes are an ugly shape and color, especially for the rear, so putting the covers is a quick cosmetic improvement for many.

I don't like the shape of these particular covers, but that's my thought on them.

I personally went with G2 caliper paint as well, much cheaper than having someone else paint them or do powdercoat.

Oh I know they're ugly. The calipers on my 1995 Mustang GT were hideous, so were the rear calipers on my 2009 GT500. I painted them all black to hide them rather than covering them with pieces of metal to falsify their appearance and make them look larger and prettier than they were.

Painted black to match the fronts and hide the shame of the rears.

I did the G2.... Was nervous but came out great, smooth as glass... Prep the hell out of them! removed pads and went to town, even grinded the casting marks from the rears. Took quite a few coats fyi, but one can is more than enough to complete all four calipers on a PP1. way cheaper and easier then pulling calipers. It took a lil over half a day but worth it. And I went with the green.... Needed some pop

That looks awesome! Did you remove the calipers to paint them?

And to the OP, that's the shade of green that I'm talking about. It will look killer on a black Mustang.

I only removed the pads and then masked everything after cleaning and prep... Its a job but so worth it. The paint once it dries is as smooth as glass, then purchased high temp Brembo decals off amazon. Thanks! The green is awesome but took some time to start covering. Be sure to do all prep and masking before mixing the paint and hardener.

Looks great !! That color looks amazing with the white...but the rear calipers aren't really brembo brakes and you have a brembo sticker on them? I think I would have just did the brembo stickers on the front brakes and let the back stay the pretty green.still very nice job! ..I like you took it a little extra further and spent the time smoothing the casting. Also something else that really cleans up the brake area is painting the top hats on the rotors..and good way and cheap way to get rid of that rust I'd to use all natural pure white vinegar.

Yea, I agree with ya on the rear stickers... But it came with all four and I could just peel em right off. As for the hats, I plan to paint those when the weather gets warmer. cause the hats looking like crap bugs me. and more so since you pointed em out too. LOL... Thanks!
