Had mine powder coated and they DO NOT need to be split, but my car has the standard GT brakes.

Finish on powder is MUCH nicer than any of those off the shelf diy kits and the finished product looks professional.

This looks fantastic. How much did they charge you to do this and how much time did it take? Did you take in the entire car or just remove the brakes yourself and take them in?

Thanks

I used plastidip. It's been holding up the last few months just fine. We'll see how it does over the summer. It's supposed to hit 115 this weekend in Phoenix.
Since rotors get to four digit Fahrenheit temperatures our puny 1xx air temps are a walk in the park for any calipers.

I decided to paint mine with the spray bomb. I have in the past had issues with the paint chipping over time which kinda sucks but when that happened I just used it as an excuse to paint them a different color. I will be interested how the finish stands up on this car. I use (3) coats of color and (2) coats of clear over that (putting the decal on before the clear is applied)

Sorry if I missed it in the thread somewhere.. But where is everyone getting the Brembo decals from? I just want to make sure I get the correct size for my PP calipers.

I wouldn't put brembo decals on a standard GT, its like putting 5.0 badging on your Ecoboost!

I used the G2 on this and my last mustang. Happy with the results.

I have a GT PP but thought I read that the non-PP GTs had the same front brakes as the S197 Brembo Package GTs did. True or not?

The G2 kit is pretty good. I would stick with non-metallic colors. I did the gold and had issues with the metallic particles pooling on the calliper. Overall came out OK but could have been better.

So I had heard the same thing, that the four piston GT Calipers were in-fact Brembo designed but it was never confirmed.

They sure spec the same on paper. Both 14" rotors/ 4 pot calipers. Not heard that they are brembos on the 550, either Continental or Akebono. Also, looking at part sites like rock auto, different parts, do not cross over.

The 4 piston calipers are made by Advics, NOT Brembo.

ive done it both ways. powder coating looks the best but the g2 paint looks ok when done correctly. its very messy stuff and you need to take your time with the prep but it does have a nice finish. it does seem to chip easily tho.
