Can't tell if this is sarcasm, but collapsed filters have been an issue with the canister filters from 2017+, on the 500 as well. It's not exactly clear if it's because of improper installation or lack of reinforcement within the filter. That's why so many have gone to the 2087 (now -A, and it's less confidence inspiring).
No not sarcasm at all, I remember originally hearing about the issue with the GT500 and when there was a constraint on the filters during COVID but I never thought about that happening on a money shift.

How many known collapses were there?

No idea. I know it was discussed at length on here at on TMO. The debate was always was it installed right or was it damaged on install, and most of the discussion revolved around the 2062 vs 2087 with the mesh "reinforcing". Having done mine countless times, I can see how a oil shop tech could mess up the 2062.

Not to start a nonsensical convo here - but I do wonder if the Coyote/Voodoo's oil pressure caused problems. 135 psi cold is A LOT and I could imagine filters not being spec'd to handle that in every condition. But just speculation on my part.

I seem to remember a lot of conversation over only a couple of instances. I never really had to follow it because i have a twist on that comes with it's own conversation.

I’m surprised the aftermarket hasn’t responded to 350/500 owner concerns on the filters. If a reputable brand made a metal cage version, they’d get everyone on the forums to buy them.

Amsoil makes a filter. It has the plastic insert thing, but the entire backside of the filter media is a wire mesh. Does it help reinforce? Don’t know for sure. It’s all I use. I go completely unaffected by filter selection stress, price gouging to get the “good” filter (some dude has 2087’s for sale on FB for like $60+ a piece right now), and zero stress driving my car.

I don't believe there were any issues with the OEM ones. But again you'd have to go through the dealer to get it, and during the COVID days that was hard to do.

Not sure, but I think the pressure relief valve is before the filter? I notice in all three Shelbys that the oil pressure jumps up on cold start, but never goes above 100 something, regardless of RPM.
The only GT500 claimed filter problem was actually crushed during a bad installation. Have that pix somewhere.
And for the record, I use K&N filters in my GT500. Nice steel outer membrane frame.

Hey guys. 2017 Gt350.

Driving fast on highway last week, I went from 5 to 2nd. When I looked at the tach, I was at 7k rpm...but could have definitely been higher.

Drove home without issue. Since then, start up seems a bit rough and slightly underpowered. No engine light. No codes. Mechanics said if it was a bent valve, I'd have a check engine light on.

Its in the shop now for a compression test. Has anyone gone through this before? Any thoughts? Thank you!
I did a 3rd to 2nd along time ago in my terminator. Was maxed out in 3rd when i went into second. Same thing put in neutral quickly but was definitely in 2nd for a quick second. Car seemed fine the rest of the night. I noticed it leaking oil from the filter maybe 2 weeks later, car seemd fine though. Ford said it needed a new long block which they installed under warranty. Didnt get details of what the issue was. Was just happy they were fixing it. Hope you have a different story 😬
